I bought a second hand S4 mini (I9195) yesterday. The battery was about 50% when I received it but it drained quickly after that. I thought it was due to the fact that I was installing multiple applications and was playing around, toggling the settings. When the excitement settled down I saw that the phone had reached 20% and it gave me a notification saying just that. About 2 minutes later it was at 15%. Within 5 minutes the phone shut down and I had to charge it.

This morning I took it off charge and the battery immediately dropped to 98%. A few minutes later it was at 90% and it just went downward from thereon out.

My settings:
WiFi - off
GPS and Location Services - off
Bluetooth - off
Mobile Data (3G) - on
Power saving (doesn't work when I turn it on) - off
Everything else is off except sync. I use it to get email.
Motion services and smart stay is also off.

I am aware that the S4 battery that starts with AA has swelling and issues similar than mine. My battery also starts with AA but since it is the Mini I'm not sure if it has the same issues as the S4's batteries. Could it be this? If so will Samsung give me a new battery free of charge? The phone is less than 6 months old.

Could it also be due to the fact that I have a SanDisk memory card inserted? Any help will be appreciated.

The phone is running Android 4.2.2. It is Vodacom stock.

iv got same issue with my S4, whats this about the memory card and AA battery?

sometimes when i charge my phone it gives a warning that the temp is too high i should unplug it

S4 batteries that start with AA have issues if I remember correctly. It was a huge issue a while ago. Samsung replaces this batteries free of charge.

Corrupted files on a memory card can cause battery drain. Or at least that was the issue with my S4.

I'm have very limited knowledge about these subjects that's why I'm looking to find answers

I have now turned on WiFi and the phone is on a Edge. I'm thinking this may be the memory card but if that is the case then I have a problem since the phone only has 8GB of storage

I'm almost certain its your memory card, I had the same issue. Download and install BetterBatteryStats to verify what's keeping your phone from going to sleep.

Its not the batteries starting with AA, the ones with problems start with BD.
AA ones worked fine.

My issues are sorted. I took out the memory card and now it is lasting as long as I want it to
