Hi,

So the S5 is 0.1" bigger in LCD, has a heart rate monitor, and is water resistant.
3Mpx more on the camera with some software tweaks well apart from Fast ADR,
And the wifi booster.

anyone here impressed? and is anyone planning to ditch the S4 over this?
 
I've had the Galaxy S2, S3 and S4. The S5 does not impress me. Will look to HTC or Sony for my next phone.
 
I'm on a S3, and it has been the best phone I ever had. I'm personally excited about the S5 for the HDR camera software, 16MP camera and faster ecosystem under KitKat...

Also, getting away from plasticy white S3 is going to be a dream. My only concern is if I go for the electric blue or the charcoal...

Not at all. The Z2 is better.

Nope.

I would rather look forward to a cheaper S4 once the S5 launches.
 
Cant see too many people jumping from the S4 to the S5. Think similar applied for people going from S3 to S4..although, for those who like me have the S3, the S5 will certainly be something I might get.
 
I have an S3 and it does everything that I need. I don't think I'll bother upgrading.
 
I am going to get a S5. Nothing else or better I can get with a upgrade that's being lying in wait since start january. Have another upgrade coming in may which I'll keep for the Note 4.
 
I wasnt expecting much from the S5 to be honest, there arent any massive leaps being made at the moment hardware wise that would warrant a bit change.
The S3 was revolutionary with its quad core processor and display but hardware isnt on the edge of another big break through right now.
Im actually considering seeing what the iphone6 has to offer before I decide on something.
 
I've got an S3 and am due for an upgrade. See no reason not to get the S5. The only thing I could possibly feel let down by is the lack of OIS on the camera. Ridiculous that the Samsung flagship does not have this yet.
 
I reckon it's a big change going from any 720p display to a full HD display - the pixel density is most noticeable!
 
Those in the know.... do phones usually get released:

1. at their highest price and then drop steadily thereafter
2. at their highest price and then remain that way for months before the price starts dropping
3. at a special price to entice consumers, then experience a spike and then steadily drop?

I only added 3, as unlikely as it may sound, as I got one of my previous phones at a bargain on contract when first released and saw it increase in price in the months thereafter. A possible mistake but it happened.

I never know whether to hold out for a while or just take the plunge. The Note 3, however, doesn't seem to have dropped in price at all but I have only really been monitoring it for the last 3 months.

When it comes to cell phones there's never any point in waiting. There's always something new coming out. Just get the best you can afford when you're looking.

I beg to differ.

Take for instance the Sony Xperia Z1 - the display was horrible and Sony has finally fixed it with the Z2.

Sometimes you need to wait and not just buy the next new model.

Agreed, at least make an informed decision. If you need a phone and can live with the trade-offs then ya sure. But waiting a couple months is no big deal in my eyes.

I'm still rocking my faithful S2. I was enticed by the S4, but saw no need to spend the cash.. I'm especially not sure about the S5 with high price.. Nexus 5 is looking like a really good deal..

Says who?

The Z1 display is actually a step up from the original Z.
