Game problems on PC

Thought about that as my pc performance level is at 3.9 currently..... as i remember it was around 6.5

The lowest is the GPU... Is it possible that it could change like this?

I had a problem with games running bad, on Windows 8.1 though, where I had to disable BITS, Windows search and Superfetch in the services. Also, had it that Chrome was chowing CPU at 100% usage. Something you can look at too.

Which browser is best for using with games. I changed to Chrome as the footprint seemed smaller.
 
Im thinking its a bitcoin miner process.

In task manager look for a process called iehighutil.exe

Ja, if the score drops like that it could be the GFX or power supply to the GFX

Now-a-days it's difficult to be a fan of a browser, they all have issues somewhere. Chrome is heavy on resources these days. I tend to jump between browsers, by now I know what works best on what browser. Firefox still my favourite, but I use Chrome for google stuff and IE for work stuff.

Power supply might be difficult to test if you don't have another to swop.
You can probably smell at the back of the power supply too, sometimes you'll get like a burned smell. Or see if you can see the capacitors from the back, sometimes they're blown up (think balloon). You can also check that all Caps on the motherboard look....well...not blown up
 
Don't know why nobody said this before. Windows PC's slow down over time as stuff gets installed and not completely uninstalled. The best way to get it back to normal is to reinstall. Second best is to track down components that shouldn't be left and remove. Best way to do that is going through task manager and killing everything that's not a necessity. Then permanently remove what's causing the problem. Third best way is to do a defrag.
 
FOUND the problem

After some digging around this weekend, i cound not believe none of the above replies was the solution to my problem.

I read some more around on the internet and found that it could be power related... then opened up my box and found on my previous cleanout i unpluged the extra 12V plug from the card and did not plug it back in when i put the card back :wtf::wtf:


My score fot the graphics in performance screen from a 3.7 to a 6.5 :)

A real novice mistake on my side!!!
 
I see the issue is fixed. However some useful things one can also do is:

- check list of installed programs in Control Panel. Sort by date installed and you should be able to easily pick out dodgy installs. Uninstall if dodge.
- check running system applications in task manager. If something looks unfamiliar, google the application that is running to check what it is. Then track it down on your PC and delete/uninstall if dodge.

It's pretty easy to keep a clean PC following the above.

Just for the record, Ipoint.exe is either the Microsoft or Logitech mouse driver's GUI, from what I recall. I guess Itype.exe is for the keyboard?
