Hi Everyone,
I bought a 2TB Samsung G3 external drive from Game about a month ago. It recently just stopped working. One day I turned the PC on, and the drive didn't power up. I tried different cables (both usb and another power cable from another G3) and still its just dead. It could be the drive inside, though more likely, its the SATA<->USB adapter board thingie.
So anyways, this drive is going to be used to backup photo's and 1080p video from my DSLR. Luckily I didn't loose any data yet, as I still have everything on my main PC as well. Now I'd like to return this drive and get either a refund or a new drive. I don't want them to open it up, fix it and return it to me, because I won't ever feel at ease trusting the drive. I know if its just the USB-SATA board that's damaged, then the drive is probably fine, and I could even open it up and just use the drive internally, but what I need is an external Back-up drive that I can keep away safely.
The box says 3 year limited warrenty. And the tagline on the front is "Safeguard your Memories" lol. That's exactly what I want to use it for... safeguarding memories... and I've had drives fail on me, so I want the peace of mind of a new drive and not a "failed-once-then-repaired" drive.
So, can I demand a new drive? I don't mind a Game voucher even, then I'll buy what ever drive they have available if they don't have an exact replacement in stock.
