Gamemax.org is the pits

markos and w124rd, you guys use ventrilo/ts also?

i disabled my combat log last night, was an improvement. didnt have ventrilo on though. will test that over the weekend

Yes we use TS for all our raids (all guilds use some sort of voice chat i'm sure), i don't have any experience with vent so i can't really comment but i don't think either would make much of a difference unless you're on a 384k or even 512k line.

384k line here so guess I am screwed by default. Used to get ~450ms with Ventrilo in Sunwell on Axxess Unshaped, but that doesnt happen anymore either.

Try another proxy perhaps? YourFreedom and PingFu have trial accounts.

This way you will determine whether the issue is with your connection/usage or GameMax.

Is any 1 using gamemax with a very fast internet connection i.e. > 1000kbps?
Im just asking what ur ping is and if there are ever any fluctuations between questing and hardcore raiding; also if u ever dc.
I myself have a 384kbps line with gamemax- average about 450ms but any type of 25 man raiding besides OS will result in a definite dc >_< - yes i know my conn is slow....
Im actually contemplating getting an upgraded line- like a 4meg line

p.s. almost forgot to ask- are there any real improvements if u take an unshaped connection in terms of money spent on it over the norm shaped- and how many lower pings does it give u :D?

just move to some place like uk; instant permanent lag fix. that is the sad reality of RSA and wow, well till we going home base...

Upgrading to a 4mb line won't help unless you download while playing WoW. Webafrica unshaped on a 384 line I get between 350 and 550 most of the time.

it does help when you share the line with more people also playing wow at same time, apart from for single person- no.

I left a bandwidth monitor on last night and switched everything else off but wow, my usage was around 5-15kb a sec with spikes of 80-90kb a sec (i guess AoE and bosses). And a 384k line's max is only about 40kb a sec, now I'm confused how are people with 384k lines able to play at all and what happens when the usage exceeds 40k a sec? Does the game client just ignore some of the 'non-crucial' traffic coming in or what happens when it spikes.

Me and my wife both play WoW with the latencies I stated above. Maybe 384 unshaped goes pear shaped if you're more than 2.

i suppose then both of you are playing at same time all the time ?,

i found that if my partner played and i surfed a little it would not be so great. after doing the 4meg line thing that went away.

Pretty much. I do raids and she is leveling her DK. The lat does improve when she logs off but it is completely playable with both on at the same time.

I am planning on having over 3 buds or so for a weekend WoW session. will be interesting to see how the line copes

Disabling combat log makes a difference. But tbh I think a 384 line just cant handle the throughput when you run it with Gamemax. And not having a combatlog is kinda missing the point of you are into technicalities and stats, not just facerolling and shift-looting :(

Was wondering people that actually don't have problems with Gamemax. What line size do you have? Because kind of makes sense that 384k cant handle the data spikes but if the people that don't have problems with gamemax also have 384k lines it has to be something else.

384k is fine for WOW (bull**** @ the 90kb/sec - that is not wow dude)

There is no difference with gamemax if you use a 384 or 4meg line (trust me I've tested enough with both lines)

There is just simply something wrong with gamemax

I think the person mentioned that it spikes @ 90kb/s. I think that is a bit much, but ofcourse anything more than 384k's limit will make you dc.

If spiking in WoW was the problem you'd be getting those DC's when you run without Gamemax on your 384.
The fact it only happens with Gamemax means it's Gamemax itself thats the problem not your line.
