Is there still such a thing as LAN gaming?

Looking for a list of games you guys recommend to play at home with the family.

Any genre welcome.

Me, my bro's and friends still LAN every now and then.
We usually play anyone of these in no particular order:
  • Trackmania Forever
  • Trackmania Turbo
  • Quake 3
  • Warcraft III TD Maps
  • Warcraft III Dota
  • UT 2003
  • Starcraft
  • Bloons TD Battle

I'll toss in baldurs gate series for something slow paced and story driven.

lol Arzy, i feel you bro.

I miss the LAN game events like MPLD and such. It was just nice meeting everyone jamming with online.

Sometimes you just want that personal touch with people you know.

Been trying to get the missus to play with me. She isn't interested :(

Maybe try an MMO or co-op games. The SO and I found MMO's to be the middle ground as she grew bored of racing games, can't play competitive FPS (she rages like a 13-yo boy!), and strongly dislikes RTS-type of games ("too much thinking/multi-tasking").

There are a bunch of MMO type games that you can play for free to test the interest without spending the buck.

On a more serious note, no, I have no hope in hell of turning her into a gamer. Really not her thing.
