Games keep cutting off!

anybody have an idea why my games keep cutting off?


anything from football manager 08, fifa08, FEAR and COD4 just cut off during gameplay and returns to the desktop!

HELP!!

Have you check your gpu and cpu heat? Sounds like something is getting very hot and kicking you back to desktop.

Well check temp.

The last time i encountered this problem was with win98...think the solution back then was:

1) update driver for everything

2) decrease graphics/sound acceleration or something? Cant remember, was under "system" in control panel

4) get more ram and defrag hdd

3) reinstall

Sounds like overheating....Make sure you check your temps. Get speedfan.

Do as killa said. After that check the overall stability of the rig with memtest86+.

Also, try opening the case and putting a small fan next to it and see if that helps...sometimes there is a heat buildup in some area of the case that isn't necessarily shown in the temp readings.

Don't forget reinstalling your GPU drivers. Update them and then if it still does not work downgrade them until the games stop exiting. A few friends had problems with GPU drivers after updating.

Have u played these games before this started happening?
Yeah heat could be a problem.

My first suspect would be GPU drivers, then sound drivers. Update both

Though temps and memory could definitely be culprits as well...

Pumpkin,

first thing to do is run dxdiag, then do the Test Directdraw and then the Direct3D tests (Under display), if your machine crashes then we have a starting point to troubleshoot!
