has anyone here feel they've got a gaming addiction or that their gaming sessions affect them and those around them in a bad way??

Yeah, which is why I stopped playing "BIG" games this year...just to prove to myself that I can control this 'addiction'

Yes, which is why I haven't upgraded my PC yet, otherwise I will inevitably wind up with a big game. And I don't have the time this year to waste on games.

Certain games sometimes grab me for a week or so. Productivity plummets etc. But it disappears after I've finished the game.

I'll stay clear of the online RPGs like WoW and GW though. I don't think I'd cope well with those and I don't intend risking it. People measuring their total play time in X thousands of hours and all that.

that might be my prob....my system in total cost about R24000 and it plays everything hardcore except of course Crysis :( playing a game on full spec just makes you want more!!
COD4 i just cant leave alone for a day, and so for TF2....

am i really the only one out there with this problem?? should i go to the extreme and sell??:confused:

I don't have a gaming addiction as such(not many hours in the day that I can commit to play games), more like a collector's addiction which digs deep into my pocket every now and again. As of last week I've managed to track down off of eBay the last two remaining mainstream console systems that had eluded me up to now, namely the Neo Geo and Atari Jaguar systems.
It's onto the handheld systems next.

Nop, no addiction here, play a game, if its good i'll play till i finish (half life series), if its ok, play a bit take a break, play some later etc...online games, hmm if I start playing, its easy to lose track of time :) but dont like wow/gw so guess I'm fine ;)

It's not a bad addiction to have.

Apparently (according to some research somewhere), some people have a predisposition to becoming addicted to something.

Anyway, what I'm getting at it is - I have a few alcoholics in my family (including my dad) and although I know it's a bad thing, I've found myself being drawn to it. :( It was an escape from things, a way to relax.

Until I discovered online gaming! I got 'hooked' and play about 2 hours a night (after 21:00 when everybody else is asleep anyway). Now, I'll have a drink on a Friday evening with my mates, or at a braai, etc. but won't touch alcohol when I think I may play online as I won't be as sharp. Ok, I wouldn't say it's a serious addiction, as far as gaming addictions go (I still have an ancient graphics card), but I'd recommend a gaming addiction above any other.

Thanks gaming addiction, you saved my life. :D

pfffft! 900 Hours of GW and I am not addicted... I think - Check out my X-fire profile, in my sig :D

I was addicted badly to WoW..
used to play on US servers, had to start raiding at 2am..
I quit when it came to the stage that I fell asleep on my keyboard.

We were in MC (Molten Core) and were having a 5 min break.. I decided to rest my eyes for a bit, and woke up at like 8am with keyboard prints on my face in the dungeon by myself.
I then quite US wow and moved to EU..
