Gaming Chassis and Power Supply

Can anyone recommend where I can buy the above at a reasonable price looking at building up another pc

I looked at the odin 550 w gt power supply what would you guys recommend as this would be for games mostly

Specs

Overkill, unless you need modular? It's a decent PSU and should run any single graphics card setup on the market.

If you don't need modular, in fact even if you do, rather stick to Corsair (or Antec) - much better names in the PSU industry.

Corsair CX500 should also run any single card setup, and only costs R600ish.

What specs are you looking at for the new PC and what will it be used for? Future SLI etc, because you might need a bigger PSU then, but a CX500 would do just fine for a regular gaming PC.
 
gigabyte odin makes very good door stoppers, only thing there psu's is good for :P


go for corsair,they make psu's as they should be make :P
 
Its difficult to tell what case and PSU you'll need, unless you tell us what kind of components it has to house and power.

If it's a budget gaming PC (eg. i5 2400, 1x HD6850, 1x HDD), then look at like the Corsair CX430 PSU and the Coolermaster Elite 430 / Elite 370 cases.

For a decent gaming PC (eg. i5 2500k @ 4.4GHz, 1x HD6870/1x GTX560Ti - 1x HD6970/1x GTX580, 1x SSD, few HDD's), look at like the Corsair CX500/Antec HCG520 - Corsair GS600/Antec HCG620 for the PSU and Coolermaster Storm Enforcer / 690 II Advanced for the case.

For high end gaming PC (eg. i5 2500k/i7 2600k @ 4.8GHz, 2x HD6870/2x GTX560Ti - 2x HD6970/2x GTX580 or 1x HD6990/1x GTX590, 1x SSD, lots of HDD's), look at the Coolermaster HAF-X / Corsair Graphite Series CC600T / CC600T white / Obsidian 650D - Coolermaster Stacker / Cosmos S / Corsair Obsidian 800D for the case and Antec HCG750 / Corsair TX750v2 / TX750M (modular) - Corsair HX750/Antec HCP750 - Antec HCP850/Corsair AX850. You can probably consider the Huntkey X7 900W PSU too, which is apparently also a very good PSU, but I'm really not a fan of Huntkey/Gigabyte PSU's.
 
Can highly reccomend the Coolermaster 690 II Advanced. Its about R800+-. It looks good, nice airflow, tool-less design, lots and lots of space.
 
Odin is rubbish...

The most silent PSU I used was a zalman hp-600. Good stuff man.

But i would stay away from odin.
 
Yes, both the Odin & Odin GT are from Gigabyte. The Odin GT's are good, but they're old tech by now, and way overpriced.

Possibly, but PSUs are almost always outsourced from OEM manufacturers and then rebranded.

Eg Corsair, Antec and other brands often source from Seasonic.

And Seasonic also competes in the retail sector under the same name. People just don't know that when buying a Corsair they're actually buying a rebranded (and in some cases slightly modified) Seasonic.

I know that. But corsair provide their cables that are super thin and easy to manage. Seasonic also good. Did you see the super-flower psus. 80plus platinum and oem is super flower.

To anyone who has, or is thinking of getting a CX series unit, or other budget-oriented PSU, just be aware that their product numbers often do not reflect the amperage available on the 12v rail, which is where your heavy power draw come from, e.g. CPU and GPU. A CX500, for example, is really equivalent to a 450W unit in practical terms, since it only has 34A on the 12v rail (408W). This will be fine for a SB i5 and 6870, but don't fall into the trap of thinking you'll have close to 500W when you think about upgrading, or that a CX600, for example, would be better than a quality 550W unit in terms of usability.

Basically, when buying a PSU for a gaming system always check how much power is available on the 12v, rather than just the total.

I can recommend Titan-Ice computers and Prophecy aswell.
