Gaming headsets

I just got a phone call from a friend wanting to sell his brand new fatality sound card (what are the odds). Turns out this guy owes me more than he wants for the sound card and I told him to bring it to me and we call it square. :D

So now I am going to buy myself the best headphones IMHO that is well rounded (Plug into Amplifier when I want to listen to music or in my Ipod + computer) Sennheiser HD 515

It doesn’t have a onboard mic so I will have to purchase that separately.

This a good idea?

If this is not the best option I will go for the Razor Megalodon’s, But it feels to linear for my taste (solely for gaming). Whereas the sennheisers is multipurpose headphones

:) I also like the Roccat... Is the sound good Kyubi?

Its really that good! I think it also did give me that extra edge on Modern Warfare 2 over others that have normal sound. You can hear footsteps from a distance and also the terrain - walking on grass, snow etc. The sound of guns where orgasmic :p

Often times in clannies when I am dead I would inform guys in game over Teamspeak theirs a guy behind you etc just by hearing. The guys in game didn't hear anything! (Its not the same with Black OPS tough).

You do need a sound card with 6 audio connections. Most motherboards come with them though. What sound card do you have?

@Penguin. I had a USB only headset. In fact I had two - they both where Cyber Snipa Sonar and went through them both because the USB connection became faulty. I didn't do anything to damage them either. So I wont buy a USB only headset.

Oh. The Roccat Kave doesn't need drivers. So for future it will work on any OS :)

Got my headset (Sennhieser HD515) delivered this morning and it is a beeeeeeeeeeautiful .
Also got my soundcard yesterday (Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty).

Will give feedback tomorrow on how it performs.

2scaly4j0o will be coming to my house on saterday with his set and then we can let you know how they are. Don't know anyone with a Roccat headset that stays close to me...

I know this kinda pushes the price issue a little, but if you get the ASUS Xonar Xense sound card you get the Sennheiser PC 350 headset with it... for ~R2700.
That's what I'm looking at anyways....

wait... what?!

They are simply not on the same level, not even close. More drivers in your cups don't make for better quality. There are limitations to surround headsets. Google a bit.

A simple Sennheiser stereo headset will rape any 5.1 headset you throw at it. It's as simple as that. There is virtually no debate over which is better.

Very Nice combo indeed.
