So, after some serious nerd rage I managed to break my Logitechs and now I am in the market for a new set of decent gaming headsets. Any recommendations (note I would like to buy online and not drive up and down trying to find something I like - so websites also, please?)

Thanks

I see on prophecy they have megalodon's for R1200... Seems worth it, anyone?

By the sound of it, the Razer also converts the sound, so you don't need a sound card and it is a bit cheaper than the G35?

I also asked myself this exact same question last week. I loved my logitechs and it lasted me almost for 7 years. I don’t know if i want to spend 1k+ on headsets for "gaming" only. I thought about the Sennheizers that i can also slip into my amp or ipod (then there is also the question of a descent sound card). The Megeladon and G35 is also so dam ugly and bulky!

Will be keeping my eye on this thread.

They are not ugly, though the megeladons do look better, it is about the quality of the audio and the comfort the give!

If you buying this headset for black Ops, you might as well buy R50 speakers :p

The sound is epic Fail. Even you buy thee most awesome headset you still cant hear footsteps etc. People just walk up to me and knife me without Ninja Perk.

usually if it isn't usb, then you need a sound card. I am specifically looking for a USB headset - easy of plug and play! :)

I've also got Roccats. All the cables is a bit of a mess, would've prefered a USB only solution. But at R899, it has excellent sound and damn good value. Except for Black Ops, but the game's sound is at fault. I dual-wielded a pair of Python revolvers and cracked myself up at how pathetic is sounds. I've shot better sounding paintball guns before.

I got the Logitech G35's and they are awesome in MW2 and also in cod4 as well as any game that has a dolby sign on it. however, there are other usb headsets that cost half the money and in Black ops will provide exactly the same performance...

i wouldnt spend too much money on a headset for COD:BO

www.take2.co.za

I buy most of my stuff through them.

The onboard sound uses system resources that could be used for the game... Or you can buy a soundcard with mediocre headphones for the same price as the USB headset with the external audio engine...

Thanks guys, I will try and test drive a couple and make a decision then. Will keep this thread updated.

He has an I7 system. But I have to agree, unless the mobo has XFI onboard, it is crap.

Expensive stereo cups > Expensive 5.1 headset by a long mile.

Just stay away from 5.1 headsets and you will be fine.
