Hey all,

So as the title suggests, recommend me a decent game keyboard under R1000, preferably about R600

Was looking to towards the merc stealth? Decent? I see rebel tech has no stock though.

Mechanical? Non-mechanical?
Everyone around here knows I'm a big fan of the Razer BlackWidow (I have the ultimate though). Costs around R600-ish. I like the Lycosa but I returned mine under warranty due to receiving one with the manufacturing defect (google Lycosa manufacturer defect ;) ).

I heard the Cyborg V.7 is amazing... I got the Razer Lycosa and my friend on the V.7... I think the latter would have been much better.

Anyways, find something you'll be comfortable with, in design and functionality.

Because to make sure the keyboard you choose has anti-ghosting, so many gaming keyboards these days don't seem to have it, which imo should be a base line feature.

I had to send back a Thermaltake Challenger Ultimate because it didn't have anti-ghosting.

Gaming keyboards are a waste unless you are going for a mechanical...

Read the wiki on geekhack.org to see if thats up your street, then decide. The best board available in SA is the cm storm quick fire rapid for a multitude of reasons the main being it is a Filco clone (same OEM).

If you do any typing a mechanical keyboard would be a good investment but rather look into getting the best you can. I hate that cm storm quick fire rapid doesn't come in brown switches in this country, if it did I would just say splash out ot that...

I have the Cyborg v7 but not used it to game on yet (got it about a month back). It feels good though :D
Matrix sold it to me for around R900.

CM Storm Quickfire Blue or Black. +-R800 and made in the same factory as $150 Filco's.

Or CM Trigger Blue/Black/Born/Red. :D You'll need to research the switches...

Never heard of born switches before. They must be the best kind:D

I have the cm quickfire with black switches and its insane. Once you go mechanical you never go back:)

Lol, funny you should say that. All keyboards used to be mechanical back in the day, before they invented this rubber dome crap to save money. So we did go back, all of us.

:) Seriously though it's cheap, it never ghosts, it has macro keys which you can program on the fly (I've never used them though) and it looks neat without being too overboard on the lights and lcd's

lol d3x no matter what mouse or keyboard you get you still will play like a NAB.... :D

In the old days of IBM computers, Amigas, etc, all keyboards were mechanical, mostly buckling spring. The rubbery ones were designed later to be cheaper to make.

Yeah I know. My  is because I don't understand how your post is related to what Reaper84 said besides the obvious factor that older keyboards were mechanical.

I mean he is comparing individual users deciding in 2012 and you then compare this to how the industry mass produced and rolled out as many ****ty kb's and mouses as possible 15 years ago after it made quality goods for a select few who could afford it? To some how disprove him in some snide smart arse way?

Maybe I just don't understand your tone. ;)
