Am looking to buy a decent gaming mouse.

Budget, up to and preferably not more than R1k.

Any suggestions ?

Also, comments around wireless vs wired, is a wireless gaming mouse responsive enough ? I've found the standard working wireless mice a bit choppy.

Thx.

It's subjective. What you should look at is the DPI and tracking rather and here standard working mouses including wired ones will be a bit choppy.

It's an extremely personal preference type of thing maybe start of with researching your grip and then onto which brands make what suits your style.

Also debates between laser over optical etc.

Good luck. Been through 4 mice over two years and still looking for something to suit me.

Informative thank you. I am definitely a tip gripper.

Prob is that many nice mice i've researched are online, not sure if there are commercial walk in/ retail stores that i can actually test feel it.

Determining your ideal mouse is something that takes years. The first time is a gamble, and then every time you upgrade you look to improve in aspects that were lacking before.

My favourite mouse on the planet right now is the Logitech G400s. Relatively cheap, no excessive buttons all over the place, solid build quality, great for gaming and my ideal shape.

My problem too. Small town and only really one store that stocks "gaming hardware" nothing you can go in and test with.

Luckily feel isn't something that bothers me. I can get used to most mouses. Using a Logitech Performance MX right now and it works great for general and gaming use with all the extra buttons.

That is a huge budget, no need to worry there. Just pick any decent brand top mouse that suites your grip. Also the types of games you play will affect the decision. Razer Deatheradder, for example, is amazing, but has too few buttons for some gamers and games.

Currently using steelseries rival mouse optical wire. Also have a microsoft blue laser wireless mouse came with keyboard. I know you cant compare the 2 but to answer op yes huge difference the rival just so much better in bf4 I play sniper when you need to be accurate

I have pretty small hands + I'm really lazy so the Razer Naga series has been a godsend for me. Had a Naga Molten that lasted for three years, tried other cheaper mice after that & none reached the standard of the Naga, so I got the Naga Hex. R900ish.
Try other Razer mice, they're REALLY comfortable. Apparently the Steelseries Rival series is also very comfortable.

I've been rather averse to Razer products since I bought my brother an expensive Razer keyboard and mouse. The keyboard's lettering faded quickly and the keys got that greasy laptop look, and the whole thing died after little more than a year. The mouse also got serious visual wear and tear and died about a year after the keyboard. Can't remember the names, but they were great looking products.

That's a problem, spend good money you expect it to last.

Used a few good gaming mouse products, best so far for me is the RAT MMO 7

No, just stay away from this Logitech Rubbish. They have lost their touch.
Also, never buy a wireless mouse or keyboard if you intend to play games with it.

I have both a Logitech K800 wireless keyboard and an Logitech G700 mouse and I HATE both.
My problem is not charging the batteries but rather its accuracy and lag. I made aan expensive mistake and I am eyeing that Rat earlier in this thread with a decent mechanical keyboard.
