Gaming mouse questions

Let me just +1 you on that. (I've probably had nearly a dozen mice over the past few years, and have learned a lot about what works for me, and what doesn't. My favourite mouse right now is a Razer Deathadder Chroma...and I'm not a razer fan lol:/)

What looks good on paper (and on pictures), won't necessarily be enough, especially if you're not entirely sure what works (and what doesn't) for you.

If you mostly play FPS games (this is me), then:
- Less is more. The fewer buttons it has (for what you need), the better. The simpler the shape, the better.
- Comfort is everything; know your gripping style and choose a mouse that was designed for those grips. (easier said than done unfortunately)
- If you're not a lefty, steer clear of ambidextrous mice.
- Weight plays an important role. Lean towards lighter mice; (This is highly subjective though)
- Prefer an optical sensor (and not a lazer sensor)
- Research the sensor and check whether there are any niggles, like builtin angle snapping or acceleration, jitter, intermittent tracking issues etc.

My list of "great mice"
- Razer DeathAdder (not the chroma, it breaks)
- Steelseries Rival
- Corsair M45
- Roccat Kone XTD Optical (Had the original Kone, not this one)

My list of "good mice"
- Logitech G502
- Logitech G402/G400
- Corsair M65



Of course, everything I've said is really based on my own experiences and aren't necessarily applicable to everyone.

I am rather bashing on the fact that a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard is rubbish when it comes to gaming.
Mouse works okayish (just okayish) when I have clear line of sight to the receiver, but as soon as someone walks past then all of that goes out the window.

I am rather bashing on the fact that a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard is rubbish when it comes to gaming.
Mouse works okayish (just okayish) when I have clear line of sight to the receiver, but as soon as someone walks past then all of that goes out the window.

I agree 100% wireless is not for gaming. Bat will always die one the worse of times :D

Go for the Steelseries Raw if you want a laser mouse.
Coolermaster don't have the same quality level as Steelseries.

EDIT: Looks like its a very, very heavy mouse. 145g is just :O

It is quite large (I have very large hands) so that is one of the reasons I bought it. I play claw style. It is about the same size as a Steelseries Sensei.

Bought one of these at rage for R890.
Haven't had a chance to test it out with all the software and such but I'm really happy with it.

Pros:
highly ergonomic (I have long fingers and somewhat wide hands, use palm or claw grip), the rest for your thumb is nice.

I like a heavy mouse so I put all the weights in it, if you don't then you can just remove them.(uses a nice magnetic locking mechanism)

Enough buttons for most MMO games and more than enough for most FPS

Mouse wheel can unlock by pressing button behind it which allows it to spin really fast which in nice for scrolling down a larg excel spread sheet and I can imagine it would also be fun in old games where you can macro you fire button to your scroll wheel

Lighting is subtle, it doesn't look like a Christmas tree (Subjective I know)

Sensor has a huge range.

Cons:
The mouse wheel feels really clunky, I'm not fond of the feeling it gives when scrolling but I can see myself getting used to it in a few weeks.

Apparently the adhesive used for the rubber feet doesn't last all that long and some people have problems with the feet wearing out fast.

I bought this mouse about 5 years ago and I still use it, I play games a lot, it has never given me trouble, it is still as good as the day I got it. I have gone through more mouse pads(cheapies) than years I have had this mouse. It's a bigger than normal mouse, but I have big hands.

I have had this mouse for almost 7 years I think. Never given me a days trouble.
 
Logitech all the way.
Currently using the G500s. 2 Years of zero problems. Easy macro recording. Will detect installed games automatically, however I run a custom macro pack for BF4. DPI up to 8200. Palm or Claw grip possible/suitable. Weight adjustable, I prefer very light.
3 Months for me to upgrade to the G502.
Listen to advise relating to wired and wireless mice. Stay away from wireless if you are a FPS gamer.
Prior to this I had the RAT7. pretty damn nice, just a bit to heavy.
Other than that, it's up to your budget.
