Hi there

I have a problem in choosing the correct mouse. The thing is i see that the mousses have different DPI's. My friend says i must buy this " Logitech MX518 " and i want to buy this " Cooler Master CM Storm Sentinel Advance " . The thing is the Logitech mouse has a 1800 DPI and the Cooler Master has 5600 DPI. Well according to me, the mouse with the higher DPI is the Best.

Please help because i am not sure how DPI works.
.

You won't be using the mouse at the highest dpi setting anyway.

And you're both wrong. You're looking for the Logitech G500.

I find that when playing on my x8 I usually have dpi set at 2000, then if i'm sniping i drop it to 750 (preprogrammed buttons) and if I'm rushing and need to spray bullets then 4000. But that is really sensitive and will drive you crazy..
I'd go for which every is most comfortable and around 2000 dpi is nice for use in windows as well I find

I have the cooler master CM storm. I usually set it to 5600 for bad company 2, and then lower the in game sensitivity to compensate this helps with accuacy. When playing strategy games I lower the dpi to around 3400 because accuracy isn't important and I'm just too lazy to go into the options and change the sensitivity. There is a 2 button toggle just behind the scroll wheel to adjust the dpi on the fly. you can also set different profiles for different games.
On the cosmetic side you can put a logo that displays on the lcd screen in the middle of the mouse.

Oh my word people. don't go like this or this is the best mouse. Just go to a local pc shop and check what mouse fits you well. Nobody can say what mouse is the best. It all comes to personal preferences.

here is an example:

My friend was like the razer mouse is the ultimate best mouse ever. I must go for that cause it feels right and my gaming will improve. lol I tried it but no I don't like the feel. I went with the MX518 and man it feels just right for me. It broke (my fault...lol) and I took it in at pinnacle and they credited me so I went with the Steelseries ikari laser mouse and man that's even better feel.

My point is you have to feel for yourself before buying

I agree it's about how it feels ...... I got a DeathAdder and I have to say, it fits my hand just right. It has up to 3600 DPI but I never go above 900, that's just right for me.

I had the logitech MX518 it is a very nice mouse, comfortable etc.... But I have recently changed to a Microsoft X8 2.4ghz wireless mouse, I'm loving it. Took a while to get used to the feel of it, but now ... mm mm mmm! As for DPI, I set mine down for for more refined movements...

So like ummm where do we go to test these mice out bud? Got some names of shops that open 500 rand mice for us to test out?

Correct.

Always set ingame sensitivity to the lowest it can go, and then adjust the mouse's settings. Gives you best accuracy.

Anyways, I do this for COD4, and I still play with a maximum DPi of 1200, and down to 700 when sniping.

So basically, any mouse will do.
I have my MX310 (MX 518's older brother) at work, it's just as good as my G5SE. It's served me well for the past 8 or so years, used EVERY day for around 6-7 hours.
Won't get better value for money than Logitech mouses' build quality.

I see the G700 is out? Looks good.... Plus it's wireless, which is what I'm currently looking for.

Don't go for the Wireless mouse. The wireless gaming mouses tend to be a bit heavy and also response time is a bit high.
