A few weeks ago i got myself a microsoft wireless optical desktop, it works great except for games...

It seems that you cant hold a key in for more than 5 seconds or so. It is really crap for most games (eg. racing) because you have to constantly keep tapping the keys to move!

Does anyone else have a problem like this with a wireless desktop

never use wireless keyboards/mouse for games.

trust me, i know what i'm doing

Wires still have its advantages, and wireless mice/keyboards just aren't made for gaming..

well i know that now!!!

I thought that being a microsoft product it would be ok for games but obviously not

bwhhahaahahah

"being a microsoft product it would be ok..."

what world you live in my friend?

well when you pay R600 for keyboard you expect it to be decent thats what i am tryin to say.

its not really the delay, its the fact that you cant hold keys in for long

why buy microsoft logitech is way better there are way beter wireless options

once again microsoft charge the roof for a kuk product and ppl buy it because its microsoft

like mecer pay through your ass for quality but actually its cheap kuk sold expensive because they know ppl will buy

The Logitech MX700 and MX1000 are wireless optical mice that will kick the pants off most wired mice :D
Been playing FPS games with my MX700 for the last 2 to 3 years and it works like a dream, no lag.

the mouse is great just the keyboard keys dont stick.
I looked at a logitech one and it looked and felt el cheapo

have an old crap cable keyboard and mouse ready for gaming.....

I've got a MS wireless kbd and mouse and it works fine so long as the batteries are not too run down. I've replaced the mouse with a Logitech MX1000 though.

The receiver for the MS set has to be pretty close to keyboard or it starts missing keypresses.

Which keyboard you got? my receiver is about 20 cm from keyboard and the batteries are new.

i will fiddle around with it now

rbuely... if you can avoid it install as little as possible with regards to m$ products especially any 'special' apps that come with your stuff. drivers if you need.

also search google groups... their just might be a fix out there for you.

Just a question.

When you hold the key down, what actually happens?

Does your computer start "beeping" or do they just not respond at all.

There might be settings in your control panel with the new keyboard (assuming your using windows) which you should be able to over-ride settings like that.
If it just stops responding could also be a setting there somewhere that is enabled to "save battery" that kicks in

no the computer does not beep.

when i hold a key down it will work for a few seconds then after a while it will stop.

not a serious problem really, just annoying in racing games

I have the A4 Tech wireless kb and mouse. The batteries run down very quickly tho so have a spare USB mouse for when playing games. Works like a charm.
