Gaming PC: Recommend me some specs!

Input devices, yes, but headphones aren't an issue. I've got some decent Sennheisers that I bought last year that will do the job just fine. OS is also not an issue - I've got a Windows 7 Ultimate license.

@Duff-Man: Thanks for the recommendations there! I should probably have mentioned that I'm not an absolute enthusiast gamer and won't be carrying the PC to LANs etc, but this is for home-based gaming only. Looks like I'll be going with a different PSU to the one I scouted out originally though - everyone here's is warning me against it. :p

@scotty777: Do you think the 7850 is good enough? Will it last me at least 3-4 years and give me decent bang-for-buck? If I can get the prices on some of the other components down (as already suggested by Duff-Man), I can quite possibly look into a primary SSD with 7200RPM HD for storage...

Sorry for the late reply, a GTX 670 should last you around 3 years at 1080p, but you can't really know for sure how long it will last you especially with next generation consoles rumoured to launch in the near future and more graphically demanding games along with it. The 7850 also has a great price/performance ratio and can be overclocked most of the time to 1300Mhz on the core giving you performance similar to a 7950, but to put it simply a GTX 670 will last you longer than a 7850 before you need to upgrade again.

*If you want a cheaper option than the GTX 670, but don't want to go with a 7850, you could wait for the GTX 660, rumoured to launch in August.

The Huntkey 550W is fine for what you require. It works, is quiet and has never given me any issues. Also checked the outputs via SIW/OCCT and it's perfect and consistent.

What games will you be playing, and do you need everything to run on full settings? For me fluid gameplay is more important than full-on 100% graphics. When doing 300km/h on a racing game everything looks the same anyway :D

Well, I've checked against exact specs and you will require about 70 Watts more, but as far as I remember mine was bought with the future in mind, i.e. I required just over 400W but bought the 550W just to be safe. But as you're doing the same, 650 at least would be my recommendation.

SSD's are generally only going to increase boot times of games not the fps, it would be more effective in a workstation PC.

^

Not sure why people still think SSDs are going to improve their frame rates, it'll only improve your gaming experiences where the games needs to load data from the drive like loading times as Duff-Man said.

I see you are in Midrand, have a look here. They are in Midrand, c/o Le Roux and Van Heerden Rd., Vorna Valley.

All ready build and in your price range. I also have been out of the gaming seen for a decade, so maybe some of the other guys can say if this is good deals or not.
