I have a XFX 9800GTX (In process of swapping it out). At the moment I have a 450w PSU. I had purchased this a while back for my 6800GT. When I bought my 9800GTX the box specifies 450w minimum. At that time I had checked online forums etc. which said a 450w will be fine because the Card is not too Power hungry.

After my card died on me for no reason I am not too sure about this  Will I achieve Full performance from the Card with a 450w PSU? I am able to run all games on max up until now.

I recently purchased a Raidmax case with a lot of fans etc. Maybe the PSU is being strained? so I am thinking of purchasing another PSU that is not to expensive.

How many watt PSU should I get? something that's good for gaming and not too expensive. I sometimes also leave my PC on at night for music etc. so I don't want something that draws too much current or my mum will be screaming at me when the account arrives

Thanks.

Sigh.

Just get a cooler master 550watt and be done with it.

get a vantec ion2+ 520W.

40 amps on the combined 12v rails.. awesome.

So what graphics card are you wanting to run?

For the 9800GTX either the Vantec Ion2+C 460watt or 520watt will be fine.

For cards that require more than 1 x 6-pin PCI-E power then go for the Vantec Ion2+N 500watt with 2 x 6-pin or 1 x 6-pin/1 x 8-pin.

Wrong Wrong Wrong!! Vantec ion 2+ R600 at matrix, get that
