hi all

how many ppl here have experience with this? It seems to be far bigger than I originally thought...

anyways, I setup everything up so I could "LAN" with a mate on Company of Heroes, which was a pain in the a$$ to get working by the way.

we played for a good couple hours that evening, with Skype running in the background. Next thing he says that his 800MB that he had left was all gone!!

Seriously, is this possible  It just doesnt sound right to me, I used to play WoW which was about 50MB for half day!

ROFL. Yup it's indeed possible. When your "lanning" a game over the internet expect it to use all the available downoad/upload speed of your line.

You see how crazy the lights go on your switch when you're lanning (and thats 10/100/1000)? Imagine what your poor router is doing ;)

HTCguy,

Rather get LAN Bridger and play with that instead of Hamachi, LB works with local only bandwith and is much simpler to setup and use ;)

Some help pls.

I have downloaded and installed LB. When I create a network it creates is but says my network is inaccessible ?

I presume I'd need to port fwd my adsl router with that 40001 port ? Would I need to config Windows Firewall also ?

A guide on setting up the router, LAN Bridger etc to lan local would be much aprreciated.

A +1 to that ^, I'm not sure which types of ports to fwd, tried tcpip and udp.

after spending about 7 hours of this last weekend stuffing around with Hamachi, finally got it to work 100% with one really old game and with BF2 and it doesn't require any port forwarding or anything technical, should have a guide of some sorts up today or tmrw. Granted it doesn't use the local bandwidth but it does work

hamachi is easy to work. just set its metric to 10 and all he games will run. oh yea, some games require that all the ips are from same something like 192.168.1.*.

otherwise, buy the games, and host online or play on saix or is servers. hamachi aint that heavy on cap like alot of ppl say but yea.
