Only cheap route is cheaper batteries -- lead acids.
Can work for years if you hardly use them, so just need to not really use the capacity you paid for!

Good point, hadn't thought that through, but 3 kW was just my arbitrary line, my actual max load is maybe 1000 W and probably 150 W average.

I'm in Mecer trolley territory but looking for a lithium product not a hack.

I may well head that way, using the saving on the inverter to throw more batteries at the problem.

Just with everyone piling in to every thread saying lithium is the only way to go I was thinking where's the actual product that fits this niche.

All the "trolley" options seem to be 90s designs intended for lead acid, so there's risk and compromise with the "drop-in" replacement batteries. I'd rather not hack a warranty-voiding workaround for this kind of money.

The wall and rack mount options all seem to be 3 kW+ and R 10k+ (without batteries) and this is just OTT for my needs.

The portable power stations meanwhile seem to go too far the other way. Good for camping, but not intended for stationary UPS operation, high cycle life, serviceability (replacing batteries) etc.

Is there an in-between option?

Yes it would be leaddies :-) Below is the specs of the inverter. A little bit difficult to match up with which voltronic inverter it is. So many new/different brands thats flooding the market. If you have enough to purchase their MOQ then heck you got an inverter with your own branding in the market.

Just waiting for takealot to deliver the charger,I went with slightly bigger charger as it show its in stock, supposed to be delivering on Monday 16th Jan (holding thumbs). I went with victron as it has a 60month warranty.

Price as of today we know takealot adjusts their prices as demand increases :)
 
Update i received all the items. Very impressed with the victron charger and inverter. Battery im not to sure waiting for Geewiz to get back to me. Photo of battery on website and the one I received differs the
battery i received: https://www.flickr.com/photos/197423163@N03 . Battery has no model number displayed on it and no paperwork ie. specsheet or any info about the bluetooth. So no idea how to get the bluetooth to work i tried a few apps on playstore its not finding the battery and I'm not sure if the battery is indeed Lifepo4 or just lithium ion. (No model number can't search :( and barcode does not bring any results on google )
