Sweet similar to the route I wentJust modern LED fluorescents style replacements do the job perfectly, I think we all don’t realise just kak fluorescents actually are.
Bought these tiny lights off Takealot and only fitted one to replace both my fluorescents. Haven’t gotten round to the second as it’s actually not necessary.
There are much bigger higher wattage ones. But highly recommend Bright Star products.
These can flip between warm and cold as well.

I would not recommend the ones that use tubes and retrofit into old sockets, too much hassle to wire. Just replace the entire housing the a pre-fitted light.

Yeah less hassle since you replace the housing and didn’t retrofit.Sweet similar to the route I went

Mmm... I might only open and try one then and see I am placing 3X24wX1.5m tubes in the garage might go with a forth one. Or return the two unopened ones and reassess.Yeah less hassle since you replace the housing and didn’t retrofit.
But I find tube based ones aren’t as “directed” and don’t diffuse as nicely as the sealed units.
Would this be a better option and work in the fixture I shareD?Yeah less hassle since you replace the housing and didn’t retrofit.

Ah gotcha thanks!I meant to NOT use those that still have tubes only using LED's instead, in favour of an entire boxed and sealed LED light.
You must be smoking something to pay this much to light up a residential garage...![]()

The bigger issue I can see is not the lighting, it's that your springs are unsupported.Hey all,
So... busy with kitchen/utility room renovations at the moment but I sorted did some garage renovations a year back. With many of the garage items moving into the utility room I plan on messing around with the garage storage later.
BUT
I have used the same old florescent lights for the last 10 years and im certain the prior owners had them in for MANY MANY more years...
I have a motion sensor in there so when the garage door opens lights pop on.
Now I want this thing LIT up anyone have any ideas to really light the space up?

Please give me good ideas for really nice lighting.
The light is more important than fixtures its a garage afterall!

ah... this isnt me?The bigger issue I can see is not the lighting, it's that your springs are unsupported.
When those things snap, it will take off your head, or your car door if you're lucky to not be there.
We had this happen and were fortunate that neither us nor the cars were in the garage at the time. It left a hole in the concrete.
You need to get a wire tied end-to-end and looped through the spring to prevent damage.
