NP, safety first. If you're not sure just get an installer to do it for you. It's a cheap 10 minute job and they'll know what you're talking about...

Wasn't aware of this, mission for the weekend. Have had a spring snap on me in the past, luckily I had just passed through the garage door into the house as it snapped.

Took out one of the fluorescent lights in the garage.

Just dont use Electrolux, those floodlights are ****, I bought a pack of 4 put two up, and it packed up a some months later. I bought chinese floodlights, and put a electrolux and chinese floodlight on the same circuit/switch, and the chinese is still working to this day. Electrolux packed up quickly. Replaced with another chinese floodlight.

You need to get a wire tied end-to-end and looped through the spring to prevent damage.

How do these work the springs are on the side rather than torsion at the top of the door?

Or is this a secondary thing?

But yes that torsion spring snaps or even just uncoils very quickly you can very easily die or be severely maimed.

If my electric door opener wasn't holding my door in place earlier in the year when mine snapped the door itself might have killed me, fortunately it was open because if it was closed I might have been hit by the thing.
 
If youre going to do lighting just for kicks then anything goes , if youre planning on working in the space efficiently 2 globes on a piece of wire arent gonna cut it , you need around 400 lumens per square metre , so take the floor area say 6m x 6m and times by 400 , that will give you the basic lumens needed , colour of light in Kelvin should be around the 4000k up to 4500 k , higher will make you nauseous and lower will put you to sleep .the SA standard is around 100 lumen per watt on a decent lamp , .you can however hang 36 ,5 watt globes on wires if needed ,one per square metre .

Next time you should try some Eurolux floodlights. Vacuum cleaners does not produce much light.

Sweet thanks! These things are 6500k def don't think I'm sold but I haven't hung them or opened Lal will likely return it and go with the lower kelvin
