Gas Geyser

The amount of water saved would be minimal to the cost of the line?

I know on a conventional geyser you can do this so that you have hot water as soon as the tap is opened. But the concept doesn’t work on tankless systems.

A gas geyser can be installed much closer than an electrical geyser up to 5m. So assuming max length and 15mm pipes you waste (0.15l*5m) 0.75l of water before getting hot water. I agree it's insignificant.

However in my case all the water pipes run close together so connecting the hot and cold lines with a valve was not really expensive except in time.

True to that, but essentially you want a happy medium where you just want to add the least amount of cold water to the mix for everyone

But yes, I do have a mixer tap on my shower and should someone only want lukewarm water (just breaking the chill so to speak for a hot summer day of likewise they'd be having a problem as the geyser kicks out on low flow. Can go up to about 1/3 down from max (which is still too hot for some on a summer day). Me, I like it nice and toasty always

Tshwane worked on water pipes and now my pressure is lower than before. Shower and the kitchen basin still works well but the mixer in bathroom cannot get enough water pressure to start the geyser up :-(

Will have to start fiddling with the 2 knobs now.

I'm using a Dewhot 16l constant temperature gas geyser.

Using it for a few years now without issues.

Takes a 9v battery once a year and I have a gas inspection done, that's about it.

I’ve got two, a 12L and a 16L Dewhot. Works well. The 12L can be a bit finicky re temperature control. We are two people that shower every day (and I like long showers) and 19kg lasts about 2.5 months. That’s the 12L unit.

R682 for a refill, delivered and installed.

Curious, mine uses 2 D cells.

I have a solar geyser for most of the year.

In winter lower SG temperatures redirects luke warm water to the GG which boosts the water back up to 60°C

So a 19kg bottle lasts nearly a year for me.

yeah by my parents will be 3 people and my sister takes long showers

so they will go for the 16l i guess

With all the loadshedding at unpredictable/odd hours, I'm considering a gas geyser solution in one of the bathrooms. I'd like some advice from members who already have a gas geyser system installed.

- Pro's & Cons's
I purchased a house with a gas "geyser" (no geyser as such), gas is VERY EXPENSIVE. It costs me R700 per month for gas. I would change to solar geyser (I've had that previously and it works great.)

This is a gas "geyser".

If u need to refill gas every month then the geyser capacity is not adequate, correct?

In my case, I'd need a 20L for a family of 5.

I have two 19kg cylinders. I buy a new one each month. We are two people.

The "geyser" doesn't have the capacity; the capacity is in the gas cylinder. I always have hot water, so capacity is not the problem. The cost of gas is the problem. In my opinion, gas "geysers" are not efficient in terms of fuel usage.

I don't know our size, but we have 3 bathrooms and cook with the same gas.

You will also need a cage to lock the cylinders in (once off cost).
Ok cool, I understand it now. Will have to do some homework, especially with Winter coming in. Solar works well in Summer but in the colder months, the heating element gets used everyday.
