Anyone know what kind of power gains one can get by Gasflowing your cars cylinder head? Lets use a standard 1.8l or 1.6l N/A car as an example.

Will fuel consumption also be slightly better?

not much at all, its a waste of money.

You can do it yourself if you have a Torque wrench and a pencil grinder.

All they do is smooth out the edges in the ports. Will prob sit you back about R 2000.00 at a Mech place.

ya its so easy isnt it ... :rolleyes:

Okay one guy says R10k other R2k that just doesnt make sense? but noted.. noted

Steve's Auto Clinic will charge R5500 for a standard 4 cylinder head mod. Power gains can be as much as 15 to 20%. Bearing in mind that for R5500 you get oversized valves, new springs etc. It's a full top end rebuild if I remember correctly. It's nice because for slightly older cars it can take away tappet knocks that can be irritating.

I rebuilt my Escort motor and gearbox about 13 years back and for a complete engine rebuild and head redo with cam, blue printing and gas flow it cost me R2700. I lost my girlfriend though because the motor slept in the kitchen while I was doing it;) The amount of money I saved by not having a girlfriend made it worth it.

I would call them for advice or call Ferolli's in CT.

Oraait catch i assume you're right on the gains and price. Its a silly investment then!
I want to gain some kW on my N/A 1.8 what can i do its completely std, dont say zorst & intake thats fine i know anything else? I heard of a FSE boost valve (how much $$ what time of gains?)

If you go to SAC, they promise you 50kw gains and when you get your car, you'll notice your car running like a 1.4 and to top it, oil leaks.

Yes you right about the price, i got charged alot because of the 6 cyl 3.1

TBH, just leave the car as is. Its too expensive to tune a NA engine to achieve some good gains.

Suppose you are correct there

Wait wait wait

True it is very expensive to tune a NA motor. But the rewards are awesome. Sure, it's easy to pay R 15k and get a Turbo added onto your motor but any jackass can do that :rolleyes:

Start off small, do the Branches, Cam, Valves and Valve springs. This will give you decent gains, true a gass flowed head doesn't give much so skip on that till the rest is done. ;)

It get's alot more expensive when you start on the sub assembly ;) Pistons, conrods, Main ends and so forth

No motor or Cam work on my car! I hate the way it idles afterwards its like taking her soul away! Shes my baby!

:eek:

Are you for real ?

Then rather not do anything to your baby :p Nothing like a 276 cam floored down a straight. True it's a bitch when the engine is cold :D

Fuel injection or Carb ?

Branches = +/- R2k
Cam = +/- R2k
Valves = +/- R2k

gains = 20kw's <= that IS NOT DECENT

Im assuming those costs, i have no freegin idea for a Citi golf, but i dont think i can be far off for proper quality parts.
