Gastroscopy and colonoscopy tomorrow

What exactly were the precursors to you knowing you needed these procedures?
My doctor recommended it. Apparently all people should have these done at middle age. Colon cancer is quite common and it can easily be caught early and treated effectively. We will also be moving to UK next year and the NHS does not cater for this kind of elective procedure. So best to get it done while we are on a full medical scheme.

Just heard all these horror stories. My friend had to be held and strapped down because they couldn't get the camera down his gullet. :wtf:

It's not that bad. I've had a gastro and manonmetry done in the last month. They knocked me out for gastro but was wide awake for mano. Neither were too bad, and I have a fear of gaging!

Good luck with procedures, Bokdrol. Hope it goes smoothly for you.

Never wish my ordeal last week on anyone...
CT scan with contrast Wednesday - 2l of goo and iodine drip .
Thursday a gastro and colon scope -2 l of opening goo started at 11.30 Wednesday night !!!!
Ah, the joys of a Hospital plan. Everything done with one admission.

Urgh!

BD - you there?

Hi folks. Actually the prep was the worst part: swallowing litres of stuff etc. Very thirsty and headachey. But they knocked me out and I had a good sleep and woke feeling 100%. Not problems were picked up.
So really I think it is best to do both at the same time. That way they will put you under.
I asked the sister before the time but my Afrikaans left me in the lurch as it sometimes does. I asked her "sal hulle my uitsit?" which means "put down". She had a good laugh and said generally they don't put the patients down. :o

Bizarrely, it was actually all-in-all quite a nice treat for me. I felt "pampered" and didn't have to go to the office, plus my husband was extra nice to me. Win-win :D
