Is there anyone who would like to contribute to it?

For example

His brother is Honorary Consul of Djibouti as well as an arms dealer. Djibouti is right next to Somalia where the Darfur ethnic cleansing has been taking place. Wonder if any SA weapons has been used against the people of Darfur.

From Core's own website

"While independently managed, Core Group can tap into the expertise, shared infrastructure and financial resources of the ‘Ichikowitz Group’, which has successfully started, and still operates, businesses ranging from automotive import and distribution, lotteries and gaming, information technology, sporting goods and dental equipment to minerals, petroleum and other natural resources generating over R2 billion in turnover annually."

Would be useful to give all this kind of info to Carté Blanche / Noseweek for example and let them run with it.

A noble endeavor.

The main points of interest for me are:

- Are core the only official distributer of Apple products in SA?
- If they are, how did they get that status and how do they maintain it?

According to what I understand from various sources.

Core is a VAD but they are not Exclusive, i.e. they dont have a monopoly seeing as SA trade law AFAIK does not allow it so importing grey is fine.

Something tells me it's the French Apple connection - Arms, Oil, Africa.

Why do they act as both a distributor and as a reseller. Surely this is a conflict of interest, and in contravention of the monopoly laws of South Africa?

Any dealer dealing with a distributor who also retails is taking a big risk. As has happened in the past, should he strike a really big deal where there is potential for an opposition product he may well find that the distributor does a direct sale to his potential at dealer price less a couple of a percent. Goodbye sale!

As is the case with the Vodacom / Core relationship.
The guys from wwcomputers initiated the deal and Core stole it from them.
