ORLANDO, Fla. -- A Florida teen whose arm was ripped from his body by an 11-foot alligator is blaming the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for not properly controlling the alligator population.

Edwards said he knew the canal was infested with alligators before taking a 2 a.m. swim at Nubbin Slough, a canal near Lake Okeechobee on Sunday.

"They said they pulled out over a dozen 12-foot alligators and they spotted 150 in that area," Edwards said.

Yeah, pity the alligator didn't finish the job that evolution started.
 
With the amount of intelligence this person is showing I don't think it will be long before he isn't a worry anymore.
Lets just hope he doesn't get old enough to reproduce...

You really think this kind of thing happens "only in America", or do you just enjoy any opportunity to take a jibe at America? According to Wikipedia, "there were only nine fatal attacks in the U.S.A. between 1970 and 2000, eleven people were killed by alligators in the five years between 2001 and 2006 alone" ... this is in a country with a population of 300,000,000 people, so it's obviously not a common thing, and people get attacked or killed by various animals all over the world, often by their own stupidity.

What does seem to be common in America is this culture of blaming everyone and everything else for your own actions and stupidity, but even then, I don't think so, that also seems to me to be a global trend.

BTW this guy had been drinking just before doing this.

i just watched Primeval last night and Rogue last week. croc movies are kinda boring coz the ppl 4get that the freaking things can come OUT of the water.

Lake placid is still the best
 
he was probably in the canal and yelled for one of his friends to "lend him a hand... no wait.. make that an arm!" :D

Have not seen Lake Placid yet. I also watched Rogue last week, was reasonably decent. I wondered how big crocs really do get, so I googled and the biggest certified on record get to 21 feet!!! :eek: the one in Rogue was only purported to be 19 feet.

i dont work in feet...i wikied it too ^^ one in rogue was 7m the biggest was supposedly 8-odd meters but they dont know if thats true coz theres only a replica of the croc. 7.63m was the longest recorded i think it was. and theres a 7-odd meter one still alive.
