Lol !!! oh no you dont.

To be honest I did "try" "once" to level a DK for more professions, but I failed miserably. Think after leveling up one point, I got fed up with melee dps latency / range crap and just relogged back to my trusty ol Ranged nuker.

Oh yea, he was a Orc DK !!! not a crummy Belf !
Belf is ALMOST as bad as a rogue in my books :p

there is just something about your first original toon that makes it very hard to just leave him behind.

I'd never delete my first toon...I've still got a couple friends from those old vanilla days that play...but mainly because I don't want some casual noob having my char name

Vanilla pvp was great... twinks were seldom seen, and hunters with the rhok were godlike :p

hehe :D

I also rolled a DK Orc...played him till I got to Outlands. Never logged him again :p

Yesterday I decided to delete him and roll a gnome DK on the same server and gank the Hordies that bug my mage :> lol Just need to level him...boring character >.<

It took me over 3 years to finally found the char i love the most, that being my paladin:) then druid, hunter's where awesome but the nerf now sucks, and i hate survival spec, loved beast mastery. I cannot stand clothies, prefer damage mitigation.

Thank for making me stick to a Pala past level 20 Pitbull ;)

:p

I had this mission to have 1 of each class at level 70 someday.

This all changed. I am now where I would like one of each function. Being melee DPS, Ranged DPS, Tank, Healer. I have just about one of each at full level. Appart from my lovely druid :o

+1 to you wow4life + skurm :) Agree fully.

Having multiple alts is a recipe for burnout.
I stick to my one class, and try and pimp him out to the max.
It is nice having multiple characters for all the professions, but if you are anything like me, substandard gear would bother me to insanity levels. I would just end up raiding / gearing up the second toon as well.

Yep I only have one character that takes up my time.
My paladin.
However i max out all 3 spec gear sets as far as possible.
I do have alts but i dont level them , i leave that to my lady`s brother when he is bored and wants something to do. :D

Pick one class, pick one role, and get good at it. WoW is full of enough terribads with bad gear who can't play their class cause they can't commit to 1.
My druid is my main and I'll walk into Mordor with him!!! (as long as I have a few pocket healers as well). He does the dailies, achievement runs and most of the progression runs as well as the normal "OMG I'm bored" day to day quests.

All my alts were fun to level and they are usefull to me in some way even though I never play with them any more.
Druid - JC and Herbs
Warlock - Alchemy and inscription
Priest - Tailoring and enchanting
Hunter - Skinning and LW
and my soon to be 80 Dorknight - Mining and BS

Drood :p I still want to level my druid and create a druid only guild and raid 10mans with just druids :p

My first ever character:

A huntard
Then a priest

Those 2 were on a US account I dont have since long ago anymore

I then started a shaman on Europe TH
Got bored with it then started a Rogue - since then a rogue has always been my main

I've played some alts since then,
64 pala atm
had a 70 druid at some point
59 DK (so do not really count)

And of all of them, the rogue still really stays the most fun, just incredibly difficult to find pugs that take rogues /sigh

I've just plain quit ... for now! :D

I'll prolly come back someday.

But onto the OP. Most RPG games are about grinding to get somewhere. Whether it be levels, skills etc, it is what keeps us playing. They hang that golden carrot, and release us wabbits and off we go! Must .... have carrot ...

I got tired of that after wotlk came out... all the work I spent in vanilla and then tbc on my hunter - all my effort wasted when the next expac came out

I dont think it was a waste. The gear isnt the main point. Learning new content, logging on to have a chat with friends. Thats why I play. Couldnt be bothered if the next patch/expansion has better items than I have. Usually means new baddies to nuke :D

Pornolio, I know exactly what you mean by not wanting to leave your original character behind.

I started a warrior and in hindsight, should probably have played a paladin as my brother recommended at the time.

Recently, I recruited a few friends into the game and just completely went ape with alts, getting one of each class to at least level 60, with the exception of the priest which is at 48 or so.

This weekend I logged back on the warrior to do some arena for fun with the most ambitious of the recruited friends and man, I had fun. I spent basically all my time doing PVP and getting gear, and I don't think I will ever be able to bury the warrior, no matter how sad I get about the state of the class sometimes.

On the bright side, leveling has become much easier than it was before. I just bought cold weather flying for my 73 mage and it makes the world of difference while leveling. Also bought the heirloom shoulders - it all adds up.

Ideally, I would like to cover all bases for when I do eventually quit the game, knowing that I gave each class a try.

I LONG for my warlock and go on a memorylane trip every time I log on whit her pity she is a human. Xfingers for factional transfers soon

I'm gonna lol so hard when all you anti-alliance players all re-roll alliance to play a worgen.

For the Hor...uh... ALLIANCE!

Keep 3 level characters and delete the others. WOW is like a drug, you can't just quit by leaving your stash(alts) stuffed behind the toilet. You gotta get rid of them and stick with one or two mains else you gonna level grind your life away dude.
Dude this was my take on wow as well when i just started it i wanted to stick to one character why i rolled druid as my first.I pvped too much at low levels with my druid way back when we really sucked before lvl 40 and rolled like 5 alts only to come back to the druid.

Long story short wish i could just have stuck to one character and get all achievement on it.

Lately they added just way too much to do.
Same thing happened when they released the DK i rolled one played it to lvl 80 and geared it up all the way only to go back to my hunter then my Druid.
If your a normal person that works 40 hours a week you should only have 1 main. But i have to say in PVP having alot of alts REALLY helps you to improve since you know how it feels to be in the other guys shoes and what hes got to throw at you.

Other class always got some cool move you want :(

Take DOTA for instance every character is different even if you know one VERY well your still gone lose if you don't know the enemy.
