Bus drivers operating feeder buses to the Gautrain embarked on an unprotected strike in Johannesburg, Gautrain operating company Bombela, said on Friday morning.

"I do not have any details yet as to why they are on strike, which started a couple of hours ago," said Bombela spokesman Errol Braithwaite.

"This is a complete wildcat strike, the company has not received a strike notification from the workers."

Buses in Pretoria were operating on Friday.

Braithwaite said negotiations with the drivers were underway.

Eish, MyCiti on strike, Rea Vaya on strike, and now these guys.

It's a wonder anybody is able to get to work.

Does every damn lazy moron in this country have to go on strike every single year?

Taxi? Colleague? Friend? Walk?

Which area are you in?

Randburg, so walking seems like a brave notion. This is poorly executed action in my opinion, as I'm less encouraged to use the service.

Stay at home and blame it on the strike. (That is what the majority do in this country)

Sorry. Maybe there is another forumite who can help out. Don't you have colleagues that go the same way you do?

Then you become part of the problem.

GAUTRAIN BUS DRIVERS' STRIKE ENDS

Drivers operating feeder buses to the Gautrain agreed to go back to work on Friday, a few hours after going on strike, said the Gautrain operating company Bombela.

"All buses are fully operational," Bombela spokesman Errol Braithwaite said.

Some drivers embarked on an unprotected strike in Johannesburg on Friday morning, amid wage negotiations.

Earlier in the week, Rea Vaya bus drivers left commuters stranded for four days around Johannesburg.

They demanded the banning of labour brokers, a review of their code of conduct, that senior staff members choose their shifts, and that the union be introduced during the induction of new workers.

The Rea Vaya bus drivers were expected back at work on Friday.

Thanks Gary

Let's hope really hard that the buses are actually back on schedule!
