Well not really - I have got 2 or 3 times from Sandton to Hatfield.

But tomorrow I need to go to OR Tambo - is the yellow a separate line/train altogether?
I didn't notice another line - but I was late and rushed down about 4 levels of escalators - one of those other levels?

Also for the guys that have been :

How long does it take to get there? My plane to PE take off 8.10am
How much is parking for a day (ie 14hrs or so)?
Trip itself expensive?

Thanks !

I'm not quite sure about the lines from Sandton but reckon the markings at the station would make it easy enough to find the one going to OR Tambo. Or just follow the people with the biggest luggage.
Trip is 15 minutes and trains leave every 12 minutes I think; you can check the timetable but to be there at 7 say, there's a 6.48 train. Bit of a walk from the station at the airport to the check in gates for domestic so I'd take an earlier one. Depends how early you wanna get there. Costs around R160 last I used it, one way. So yeah, not cheap but with potential traffic issues maybe worth it. Parking if you use the train is R20 for the day.

It's about an hour and a half.

Thanks ...

I mean the trip from Sandton to OR though.

If I'm taking off at 8.10am, I'll need to be at OR 7.10am ?
Someone said 15 minutes on the Gautrain - so let's say 6.45am to leave the station ?

The train trip takes 14 mins. Remember the train you need to take is on the absolute bottom floor of the Sandton station. Just ask the security there. Parking must be R25 now days? The trip is pretty expensive. You must use the special Airport coaches to allow space for your bags.

Get the app you can plan your trip accordingly

Ok so it wasn't bad.

Do they have a check system though? It looks like one card enters all platforms, but each trip is a different price?

need to change trains at Marlboro station,
their are announcements constantly about that.

so from Sandton, you can take any train northwards, even the hatfield one,
just get off at Marlboro station, and walk to the next platform to catch the OR tambo train, that is configured differently.
just ride it to the airport then.

You are also billed depending on times, just FYI, so make sure you check it out. But the Gautrain app is quite cool, and was VERY accurate when I used it for my daily commute a few years ago. It would count down train and bus arrival times at stops and so on and it was accurate to the nearest ~30 seconds back then.

Take note that the airport train is way more expensive because you pay for extras, like a shuttle to take you to the drop-off section. Just make sure if it's included in the Gautrain riding price and if it's extra, but AFAIK it's included.

Are you sure about this? I took a train directly from OR to Sandton. I am sure the other way is the same. I suppose it depends what platform you take.

yip, there are announcements constantly telling people to change trains at Marlboro

and if I remember correctly the their is a direct train to Sandton, but it stops at marlboro station and goes back to sandton.

unless that's now changed?

No, you are wrong.

There is a separate platform at Sandton which runs via Marlboro to the airport. No need to change trains.
It's been like that since day one. From someone who's been using the Gautrain from day one.

Ey?

you can go direct to OR I'm pretty sure. There are different lines but there's one that goes direct.

You can take a train directly from Sandton to OR Tambo without changing trains.

Last platform at Sandton takes you straight to the airport, always been like this. There are airplane stickers on the floor at Sandton follow those.
