I think that rule is for the train itself, not the station. Thats the way it was on the emergency exercises anyway (Hell, they even gave us food to eat at the stations).

Also, for the record I rode on it long before all of you guys did. :p:p:p (PTA leg that is)

it's been good so far, bought the 7 day pass from Midrand to Centurion including the bus fare, no complaints are than that both from my Flat and work is a distance to a nearest bus stop, but I use the opportunity as walking exercise

Parking fees are the same at all stations. See http://join.gautrain.co.za/Fares.aspx and select Fares, Commuter Services. Rosebank parking can be accessed from Oxford Road south bound before Baker Street from the north, and from Baker Street from the south.

Not sure how costs compare, but you can also park at The Zone and use the pedestrian access from there down to the station.

The train is revolutionary and all but the average joe would not afford daily travel to and from work

So there's no route from OR Airport to Pretoria, its all via Sandton? Do you have to change in Sandton

Dude, its for the station as well, i was stopped twice...i asked security why?...they just said i cant, one took out his cuffs as he approached me as well.

Metrorail still owns them, lol. R9 to get from Cape Town to Paarl. 87 km's apart.

Nope, but it has been proposed as a future extension of the network. You can change to the airport express line either at Marlboro or Sandton. Logically it's quicker to switch at Marlboro if you're coming from Pretoria, but you'll have more time at Sandton as the train lingers there longer as it's the starting point, rather than dwelling for approx. 90 seconds as it does at Marlboro. Getting copies of the exact train stop times for each station will allow you to plan your route as efficiently as possible when considering changes.

Yeah, zero tolerance policy towards eating and drinking in the stations and on the trains - including chewing gum and drinking water. R700 spot fine after warnings. If you look at the trains which have been in service for a year between OR Tambo and Sandton, they're still in mint condition for this reason - unlike the London Underground which has the remnants of gum all over the place :erm:

Works out cheaper for the average joe driving alone in his car from Pretoria to Joburg everyday (per km). Plus he can use the time on the train to get some work done so there's gained productivity. Of course the situation changes for people who were car pooling, or driving the shorter routes.

Metrorail doesn't even compare ;)

I'm not 100% sure but R24 to Centurion from Hatfield sounds like a good price?

Around R19 for a regular user, sounds good to me.
