Mmmm, getting a bit cramped these days especially with a lot of people getting on in Centurion. This morning I even skipped a earlier 4 car train from Pretoria station because I saw there were too many people getting on it (everyone looked at me funny) and can only imagine it got very bad at Centurion, the 8 car one was much better. With the 4 car one you have diffculty getting out in Midrand cause of all the Centurion people standing in the way.

Maybe I should start taking the car again, half the journey time (now that all the lanes are open again) at just slighly more cost...

Even in the first week I could see that they needed to increase their number of trips (and car sizes). I think they are still doing volume testing but its about time to step things up.

Also need to make earlier trains for the airport people.

Honestly I'm happy that this is being used so much..

At start I was like, sure another train service thats going to get run down by imbeciles.

seems like this is going the other way.

Well Done, I say!

I've never been on Gautrain and i thought it is not used that much. No wonder the traffic is not so much lately.

that would be because the construction people finally took their stuff off the highway, and now have an open lane instead of an empty closed lane :P

Watch the decline in traffic once they start raping you with toll charges.

Used it earlier in the week and have another appointment in Sandton for 15:00 this afternoon.

At R 82 return from Pretoria Central to Sandton it's waaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than driving with my Bakkie :D

had to jump the GT at Sandon to get my aass on a flight....at R105 one-way seemed bit pricy to me...

Not really. Even before the construction, the traffic was terrible.

The Gautrain is great, but how do you get from there to your office?
There's a Gautrain bus-stop outside our office park, so I'm sure people take the bus. The problem is that the feeder system doesn't seem to have enough buses to service more areas.

Havent used it myself, but there is a very expansive bus service that runs around the stations. From the outside it seems very modern and well managed. This actually makes the gautrain feasible, South Africans are not used to walking like the Europeans do.

Glad its being used a lot, this will lead to extended rail services....well it would in a country run logically.

they need to make a train go to Lanseria airport, then I can also take it....
howcome people stand in the train? is it cheaper than seated, or do they want to fill it like a minibus taxi?

was in southern France a while back, and reaaaly enjoyed the tram / short trains.... every 15minutes if u miss one.... we need more here

If you are less than a km away from a bus stop or the train itself I would suggest walking (during the day). We are becoming quite an overweight nation, and walking really does wonders. When we went to Loftus it was nice to see how many people walked from hatfield station to Loftus and we were quite alot of pedestrians so I didn't feel unsave.

If you sit or stand the price remains the same. There are just pole and handles to hold on to if the train gets to full.
