Gearbox Software has prevailed as the highest bidder in the acquisition of the Homeworld franchise from THQ. Brian Martel, Gearbox Software's Chief Creative Officer, has great love and respect for Relic's brilliant, fun and innovative game and personally spearheaded the acquisition.

Brian intends as first priority to direct Gearbox's interest to preserve and assemble the purest form of the original acclaimed and beloved games, Homeworld and Homeworld 2, with the intent of making them accessible on today's leading digital platforms.

Please visit the Gearbox Software Forums to share with us and Brian what you think should be done with Homeworld moving forward. And, please try to get our attention if you have capability and interest to join the effort in developing or enabling Homeworld's future.

I might finally get to upgrade my PC to Windows 8 as homeworld 2 is one of the reasons I am back on 7.

This could go either way really, they completely buttfscked the Aliens Colonial Marines job and DNF was atrocious as well :( but they did Borderlands and Borderlands 2 which are great.

Well if they break it we will only have the fans to blame as they are asking us what to do with the IP.

So these guys are just going to work to make the current Homeworld games compatible on the new operating systems, they are not actually going to make a new Homeworld?

Homeworld 2 is working on Windows 7. I played it the other day. Or are they talking about Homeworld 1?

Gearbox hey... well..... they farmed out Aliens. If they handle it in house it could be great. But they aren't the company that first comes to mind when I think of Homeworld. I was hoping for Blizzard :l
