Hey mates,

Its been a while since I leveled a toon to 80 (so I was used to the old way of gearing really), and now my priest dinged 80 on Sunday morning, so I've been doing the gearing thing.

I've realized how easy it actually is to gear these days and get a toon raid ready. Specially if you have access to some extra gold or mats and can craft some items also. (ulduar, toc, icc)

Now of course some help & loads of luck is needed to make it easier and I had 4 good friends helping me, and I'm very grateful to them. Extra special thx to the one who also lurks around here on the forum :)

Anyway, when I type /played it says 15 hours at this level, so I'm a freshly dinged priest.
According to sites like wow-heroes & Be Imba I can & should focus on ICC10 atm :)
(ye I know thats sites ain't perfect but its a guide, and since my resto druid main is bored of ICC I think I know what happens inside there :p)

What do you guys thing of the way things work these days & how it will be come Cata?

I think Blizzard has managed a good gearing system lately. To get the best gear, you need to go to ICC, but to get geared for ICC isn't that hard. Just a lot of HC's.

There are still some minor issues, but it's nothing too serious. The shortage on tanks and healers for HC is a problem. I tried resto on my Shaman, but I'm not cut out for it, which leaves me with dps specs and thus 15 minute queue times on average. Perhaps better rewards for tanks and healers might motivate more people to go that route.
The other problem I have is that there is a lot of boss skipping in HC's lately. Since most people are running them for the frost emblems, they skip all the bosses they can, which slows the gearing process for the newer 80's. It's something that annoys me on my Shaman, since I'm gearing her. For my druid, it's not an issue, since I already got all the gear I need from HC's, barring 1 or 2 items from HoR. I think perhaps only awarding the frost emblems when all of the bosses are down would make that easier.

yeah with icc buff you can go there with heriocs gear and get some stuff down, sadly its still crap to pug because people want gear>skill lol

Ye 4sure u always get the retarded pug ppl. I have a friends who raid icc thou who I can join and it helps that most ppl know my main on the server.

hit 80 on Sunday
5k gs by Thuesday
10/12 Icc10 by Wednesday

damn things go fast these days in wow

Heh. I used to raid religiously in Ulduar/ToC. Not so much when ICC came out, therefore my Shaman is a bit undergeared (ToC/Ulduar gear).

This is how it usually goes down on my server when looking for an ICC pug.

RL: "LFM ICC 10/25. Link GS, Spec, Achievement"
Me: "Hi! Healer/DPS here. 4.9k GS, Elemental/Resto, sadly no achievement, that's why I'd like to join!"
RL: "Sorry mate. Your GS is too low and you don't have the achievement. Can't have you in my raid.
Me: "Well, to be fair...I have all the gear I can get outside of ICC to get my GS up. The only upgrades for me are in ICC now. Also, how can I get the achievement if I can't get in to a PuG for it?"
RL: "Dude. Join a guild that is running ICC, get your achievement, get your GS up then you can join PuGs."
Me: "In all fairness, the guilds recruiting for ICC are looking for people with ICC experience since they are already progressing through it, so trying to join them would be kind of redundant since I don't have ICC experience."
Random Raid Leader is now ignoring you.

I totally love my server. It's filled with DPS-driven morons who think GS and achievements are what make a raid.

lol - seems the same on my server. but then again it could just be me, cos my mates seem to do fine with raiding in pugs.

what server you on?

Kilrogg - EU, a server which requires you to send a 3 page resume in order to get in to a PuG :)

15 hours?! O where are the days when it took 22 hours to get to 70.

Hymn you on Kilrogg? Guild etc?

I have never pugged a pve raid. I dont ever plan to either. Not even VoA. Whenever I log with my warrior in Dalaran, I get asked to tank pugs. I always decline saying I dont want to be saved as I tank for the guild :D

I see lots of guilds who want people with ICC experience. Ignore them. There are loads of guilds who are building up raid teams who dont demand you be geared to the eyeballs with lvl 251/264 kit. Find the right one. The best gaming experience for me has to been to raid with mature newbies. A guild that is mature, knows how to have fun will be fine. Of course you will wipe alot. Thats part of the game. Even the casual raiding guilds will have ToC and Ulduar runs to gear up people. Triumph emblems are fine to gear you up to participate effectivly in ToC and Ulduar. And you will end up with nice gear from 5man heroic ICC as well. ICC isnt going to go away. Anyway, its probably too late now if you are looking for any "server firsts" in ICC.

Ye Hymn its really retarded. Specially when u run into these idiot kids.

Once in a while u get some good/nice guys and then u get your achievement. I remember when I went into ICC10 with my mage the 1st time. had 4.9k-ish gs and I out dps'ed the other guys with 5.5k gs and I also showed them how to do bosses 4-10.

Same with then my priest hit 80.
It went like "yes we know what you can do (ref. to my well known Resto druid main), but 4.9k (4970) GS we don't think is enough"
Myself went lol, buddy went lol, imagine if you outheal them (5.8k gs)
What happened? Did 10 bosses as I said, others kept saying they got almost f#$kall 2 heal. and oc I top healed.
* icc with this 15% buff is just retarded easy imo now

My point? I really hate what GS has done to the game...

Luckily on my server allot of the guys know my resto druid and I get into allot of runs with my alts just because some1 in there or the RL realize its me and vouch for me.
I do see allot of newer faces around these days and it feels like allot of the oldies are taking a break atm.

I have to say 1 thing that really annoys me and that is really GS's fault is it creates allot more shocking bad players. People don't know or even go for BIS type gear or stats their class needs, like haste cap, crit or just getting to the hit cap. They are more concerned with what GS something can give them and gear according to that.
a Correct gear player can out DPS/play a random idiot with much higher GS easily.
I saw that allot when I was reviewing apps for the raiding guild.

Keep in mind the Garrosh/Wrynn damage/health/healing buff counts for a lot.

Hymn you on Kilrogg? Guild etc?

<Bad Blood> Kilrogg EU - Mostly South Africans and a few friends from Netherlands which reformed after our old guild moved servers.

The thing that ticks me off about that damn GS addon is the way it contradicts the way raid progression is designed:
Naxx - Doable in HC gear (Entry level raid)
Ulduar - Doable in Naxx gear.
ToC - Doable in Ulduar gear.
ICC - Doable in ToC gear.

That's the design (sure, it's arguable that you can do raid X with gear from Y, but that's not the point I'm trying to make). Unfortunately, since GS has come in to the picture they expect you to be in ICC gear in order to do ICC, which is retarded.

Regardless, we're getting there slowly in our guild, downed the first 3 bosses in 10man and failed at Morrowgar on our first run. It went smooth for run consisting of 60% people who have never been there before and we had loads of fun in the process. Being a super-casual guild, we don't get to raid much (members working, offline, etc.) but I'm sure in no time we'll down Morrowgar and all have our achievement to PuG it in the future :)

Yep Hymn, u right there. Its stupid.

Regarding your progress, you can't do the 1st 3 without killing Lord Marrowgar as he is the 1st boss :)

1: Lord Marrowgar
2: Lady Deathwhisper
3: Gunship Battle
4: Deathbringer Saurfang, so I guess this is the one u failed on and will down in no time :)

GL mate

@Hymn,

I know the feeling. I dont think we have ever done 2 consequetive(sp ?) 25 man raids with the same team. In fact 90% of the time we 23/24 man ICC25. We have killed Festergut on ICC25. People go afk, changing nappies etc., run out of beer and have to dash off to the 7/11. :D

Struggling on Rotface, mainly due to always managing to have at least 2 or 3 new people who struggling with the slimes. If we keep at it, the whole guild will have experience and Rotgut will go down :D

Bah. Saurfang, I meant. Our DPS failed to kill the Blood Beasts quickly enough and, well, yeah you can imagine how the Blood Power stacked. :)

First 3 Bosses went down like a Breeze, Gunship Battle is a joke of a Boss really.
