Apologies if there is an existing thread, but current reports are scattered in various threads.

Seeing as more of us are using our uncapped accounts for video streaming, more specifically Youtube, Netflix, Hulu etc, perhaps it would be a good idea to get some feedback from various users. I'll kick it off:

Line sync: 6Mbps
ISP: Mweb premium uncapped , 4Meg
Speedtest always reaches my package capacity.
Unotelly as DNS service

Both Youtube and Netflix a mixed bag, with 720p working some nights, and other nights 360/384p barely working. I haven't used Hulu much, so no real results. BBC iPlayer is unusable.
Most nights I can do 2 Netflix SD streams at once with no real hassle. I just wish 720p would work more often when there is only one stream running.

Openweb GOLD 6Meg.

Everything always streams perfectly. Day time and night time.

Edited|: I use Unotelly as my DNS.

Line sync: 10Mbps
ISP: Afrihost 10Mbps home uncapped
Speedtest always hits 8.5Mbps, top speed of our line

I would say youtube 720p always works (Im not at home during the weekdays), Hulu 720p works about half the time with out problem, depending on time of day. Netflix is the same. Everthing else works pretty well, plus, if it is shaped, the clientzone tells you, and you can turboboost it, which works evertime.

On a side note, I am thinking of moving over to one of Afrihost Capped bundles. Great value for money

Line sync: 4mb
ISP: Plugg 4mb uncapped
Speedtest always line speed (430kB) - Sometimes throttled to 2mb during the day, it's dynamic and depends on the network.

Youtube and Netflix 720p no problem. Not home during the day but the odd few I have been I was still able to do both, although at a lower quality, after 5pm full speed. Don't Hulu and BBC iPlayer too much but haven't noticed any issues when I do.

EDIT: Maybe we should add what DNS service is being used? I'm using unotelly.

I've found mweb is kuk for streaming, youtube drops down to 144p and still buffers, Netflix / Hulu / BBC were OK last time I used them but that was in Jan, the streaming became so bad that I'm back to "acquiring" them in a specific way :D

Am on an mweb 1 megabit uncapped account on 2 meg line so I usually get +- 1.4mbps when running a speedtest
used proxy DNS when I streamed my stuff (74.207.242.213) no matter what workaround I use the speeds are kuk, even downloading on the account averages +-70kbps, am considering moving to afrihost at the end of the month...

Line sync: 6Mbps
ISP: Telkom Internet uncapped , 4Meg
Speedtest always reaches my package capacity.
Unotelly as DNS service

Netflix streams 100%, Hulu buffers on HD. This never use to be the case 1-2 weeks ago.

Have you tried using the mediahint plugin for chrome and firefox instead of UnoTelly DNS? If you want to try it the link is https://mediahint.com/

I have a 2MB line and uncapped with Ti and I have no issues with buffering on Hulu. I tested an episode of Hannibal on Hulu now and it played without buffering on HD.

Which leads me to wonder if Hulu HD is 720p because I just tried a Youtube video @ 720p and its buffering like crazy LOL (480p plays perfectly)

I was on MWEB and it was basically impossible to stream anything! Even struggled at 240p at times on youtube

I am now on TI on 2Mbps uncapped and can stream Youtube/Hulu with no issues:)

Just an update, I tried streaming with a Openweb gold uncapped account last night, and the results were slightly better than mweb, but not much. Still struggling to get even 480p :( At least youtube worked much better.
I know it's not my line or exchange, since p2p traffic flies, maxing out my line, and plain http downloads also cruise. Latency is brilliant with zero packet loss.
I'm starting to wonder if the providers have started shaping streaming traffic from certain providers.

Line sync: 6Mbps
ISP: Lantic afterhours uncapped , run max line speed
Speedtest always reaches my package capacity.
Unotelly as DNS service

youtube full 1080p , netflix 4 out 5 bars.

Afrihost 2Mbps uncapped. Smart DNS.
Buffers everytime!!

Tried line test on Afrihost twice. Failed.

Any advice please?

Thanks for feedback
I dont have a credit card. Would need to add funds to "US" Paypal from SA bank account, is that possible?
Also, which is best Modem to use. Mine is old and needs replacing, the wifi is really not good at all.

I'm over uncapped. Think capped is the way to go as most of them are just unshaped now and will run at whatever your line speed is. Pay for what you use type of thing. Some ISP's have really competitive capped packages - especially with double data like Axxess/Afrihost do.

I'm very surprised no one has mentioned Crystalweb.
Those uncapped accounts stream like a boss.

I used HuluPlus + Unotelly and really had no issues.
SuperSport and YouTube worked very well as well.
