It only seems like that because of how warped the US response is. The US has profit-based news outlets who help create these overreactions so they can boost their quarterlies.
I think there is merit in this ....
Americans folks chatting in our office this morning are asking exactly this - whats driving it all.
The folks I am talking to are employed, middle class and among a bunch of races and nationalities.
Looking at this from a purely South African perspective - its black and white ... and its easy to draw a comparison between the racial tensions in SA and what we perceive to be those in the USA.
Looking at it from a US perspective, well, its way past the George Floyd issue, and is now - who, how and what is being profited from all of this?
I think there is more than one agenda at play.
Even on this thread, opinion has given way to snappy finger pointing and heal biting. Playing the OP over playing the issue at hand for some personal satisfaction.
To your comment - I am literally being spammed with news flashes every 10 minutes, and of course, the complimentary before the 0.99c special for our online tabloid offer....
So, yeah, I think part of the fuel to this is tabloid profits.
