German train 'axe attack': Many reported hurt

Orly?

100-years of war across Europe following the Protestant Reformation says otherwise. More recently Northern Ireland and religion also played a part in the Yugoslav Wars.

But yes, they haven't done so for a couple of decades now. They thankfully left the stoneage in that regard.

missed this bit:
since the religion was invented
and it continues to this day
the bombing of each other in mosques could almost be considered a national pastime

Not in church, no, but that wasn't your original statement.

lets go back to my original statement:
that's unlikely to happen.

the people in europe have not been embroiled in a religious war with each other, murdering and bombing competing worshippers (of the very same religion) since the religion was invented

OK. Didn't take "competing worshippers" as having to be in a place of worship.

I can be a worshiper without being in a church, mosque, synagogue or grove.

i very specifically mentioned churches (a place of worship) & the bombing competing worshippers

the bombing of mosques (by fellow muslims) while competing worshippers (other muslims) are in prayer, seems to be taking the appearance of a national pastime

Not that I can see, not in your original statement.

But whatever, dude. It's not that much of an important point.

Remove religion and you have a continent that was practically locked in a constant state of war with itself right up until the end of WW2. A continent that on two occasions tried to, as Arthur so eloquently put it in another thread, self-abort on an industrial scale. A continent that removed itself as the global superpower through its own infighting. So yes, religion may have only had a hand in 100-years of war but they were having no trouble finding other things to slaughter themselves over again and again.

Don't be fooled in to thinking that Europe never went through its own knuckle-dragging phase. Unfortunately for them they've now allowed themselves to be exposed to the rock-chucking antics of other folks.

It is sad what the German government has done to Europe. Understandable though, considering their youth have been told for seventy years that they are guilty and should repent for past sins.

It is interesting how the Germans repeatedly shift between extremes. As a nation, they seem to be bipolar. They seem to struggle with they middle-ground or more reasonable responses to a situation. Instead of abiding by the Dublin Regulation and assisting with border control, they throw open the gates of Europe to all. This inevitably leads to an increase of right-wing (I think, I struggle with all the political labels) sentiment in most other EU countries. Eventually, the real right-wing surge will come from Germany itself, shifting as they do, to the other extreme again.

I'm surprised they haven't done an article yet on the assault axe that attacked all these people. First trucks, now axes? Could it be that these recent attacks have taken away from the anti-gun crowd's argument somewhat?
