I think this is a realistic comparison compared to Gerrard vs Messi.

The two are set to face off tomorrow.

Who do you think is the better player and why?

Gerrard - scores goals, playmaker, can tackle, can play various positions.

Lampard - scores goals, playmaker.

I'd say Gerrard.

What is your opinion Genius, you started the thread, the least you can do is give your opinion instead of sitting on the fence.
 
Lampard.
Stevie G is over hyped,arrogant and loves curly wurleys.I'm also sick of liverpool fans saying stevie g is the best mid in the world.Sure he scores lots of goals and does a great job for his team but I think lamps is more consistant and plays less 'hollywood' balls,sure when SG gets his 'hollywood' balls right they are spectacular passes,but more often than not he doesnt.I still think he's a great footballer but I just think Lamperd is better :)

Yes and fat Frank doesn't play "hollywood" shots into the stands more often then not :o

Gerrard carries Liverpool, Chelsea carries fat Frank
 
I think they are both equally great but if i had to choose one it would be Gerrard. He can play any position, scores goals and motivates his team. Liverpool are a different team when Gerrard is on the pitch.

Hollywood BALLS do not = hollywood SHOTS,I was not dissing SG shooting ability
 
Gerrard is the more complete player. Frank is a good player but stevie g is a level above him.

Remember the season Lapard had in 2006? Mind blowing. Then in 2007 he was hopeless.

No doubt Lampard has enough talent to challenge Gerrard in every department.

For me, Gerrard has done more than Lampard. This season, i give it hands down to Gerrard.

Going to be very interesting to see who shines tomorrow.

Cant wait!

best post of the thread so far ,Gerrard is argubly the most complete footballer in the world even K.A.K.A seems to think so

Imagine Gerrard not complaining if he doesn't play his favoured position. Imagine Gerrard not playing well when not in his favoured position.

Now imagine this. Gerrard saying "Ok, I'll let someone else hog the limelight for a while, it's a team game"...

Urgh... my head hurts just trying to imagine that

@Genius... 2007? You are taking the one season he was injury prone and putting it out there... How about the fact he played for every game for Chelsea nearly two seasons in a row? That would be like me saying Messi played crap last season... which he didn't... because he was injured... boy you're a piece of work.

@ everyone else... Don't get me wrong. I think Gerrard is currently better than Lampard. But to paraphrase a famous Liverpudlian... "Then again, Lampard is 31"...

Now for what I would have posted had some people left their goggles at home. Gerrard is a superb attacker and a bit better than Lamps if I was to ask who to occupy a certain position. If I was given the chance, even now, to buy a player - it would be Lamps. He would give his all for any team. Gerrard wouldn't play at half the level he does for any other team than Liverpool.
 
Now you just asking for this thread to be closed.

injury prone? Is that your excuse why he had such a terrible season? :D

He was awful for club and country.
 
24 league apps / 10 league goals - yeah... i agree he was utter crap. ofcourse, the panel was drunk when awarding him european midfielder of the year award. ofcourse... morons. i wish i had sense to see that season as him being completely rubbish. :rolleyes:
 
I must have my dates wrong. I know he had one brilliant season followed by a not so great season. Was his great season in 2006? I think it was man.

He still scored that wonder goal against Barca, he was on the touch line of the corner flag and he curled the ball in.
