... hopefully get my pepper grey 1.6TDi polo tomorrow ... hope all goes well with no hassles ...

R205k with cruise control ... wanted it at R200k ... so got a 5% discount ... still feel i over paid

i see they charge these days for a thing called "on the road fee" ... geez ... they make money on bloody everything ...

funny how i initially wanted a 1.4 trendline with aircon, and that became a 1.4 comfortline and then a 1.6TDi ... lol ...

How much are they gonna charge you for the "on the road" fee?
It's common practice but I always bargain them down to a fraction of their price.

Seriously - you can know R1000 off that fee relatively easily.

Brilliant Adam! You lucky bugger! :D

BTW, I always turn down their "on the road fee" and simply do my own licencing. I ALWAYS take the car on paper plates...usually save 8 or 900 Rand!

My dad is taking delivery of exactly the same car in 2 weeks.

Also got the cruse control but added Integrated Bluetooth and also asked for the windows to be tinted slightly darker.

Interesting to see that his 1.6TDi kicks out 77kW and my sister who drives the 2009 1.9TDi only kicks out 74kW

As far as I know, the older 1.9TDI puts out 96kW - could your sister have the 1.4TDI?

There are three different 1.9TDi

I think her Polo is called 1.9TDi Highline or something. I think the 96kW refers to the Sportline.

FAZDA is that possible to decline the on road fee ... seeing that im financing the car ...

yes will post pics when i get it :)

the 74 kW is the 1.9TDi four door model and the 96kW is the sport model 3 door

EDIT: the on road fee is R1600 excl VAT

Fuel Consumption is awesome. I didn't see that until now.

Extra-urban - 3.6 lt/100km
Urban cycle - 5.1 lt/100km
Combined - 4.2 lt/100km

that 96kW 1.9TDI does between 700-800 on a tank. I can only imagine how far you're gonna get with the 1.6TDI - dammnn

Adam, they cannot force you to take the on the road fee. I have financed every one of y cars, and as I said, I have always declined the fee. It is a thumb suck fee charged by the agents, simply to make money and nothing else. Most people pay it because they cannot face standing in the licencing queue.

The Finance House CANNOT force you to pay the fee. You can threaten them with the Ombudsman if they do. Every time, I decline it, I tell them precisely why and they always drop it like a hot potato.

If you feel like chucking 1600 bucks away for what is essentially a licence fee and a set of number-plates, plus they are supposed to fill the car up and supply mats at that price. The good old dealership con job deluxe!

LOL, this week, I got 820 in a 1.6 petrol Polo, so, theoretically you are looking at over 1000 k's to a tank! :D
