Get my VW Polo tomorrow

You must have driven the economy run before or drive as slowly as my grandma. :erm::D

Just superb driving style!! :D

It was actually interesting, as this consumption was done with me driving pretty slowly on muddy roads on Wednesday, plus about 500 km of freeway driving...cool weather, average speed about 100 and not much other traffic to mess me around. The fact that I have to pay for my petrol has got me short shifting and driving on the actual consumption indicator on the computer, and the result is diesel like economy! ;) :p

Grats man! I'm trying to get my hands on an older model. Treat her with respect! Or scrap that idea and put on some silly mags and a "Heart breaker" sticker on the back :P

Volkswagen Polo MK4 & MK5

. . .
Interesting to see that his 1.6TDi kicks out 77kW and my sister who drives the 2009 1.9TDi only kicks out 74kW
As far as I know, the older 1.9TDI puts out 96kW - could your sister have the 1.4TDI?
There are three different 1.9 TDi
I think her Polo is called 1.9TDi Highline or something. I think the 96kW refers to the Sportline.

1.9 R4 TDI PD 43-118kW
This ubiquitous engine shares a fundamentally identical bottom end (cylinder block/crankcase, crankshaft) to the earlier 1.9 R4 TDI with its VP37 VerteilerPumpe distributor injection pump. However, an all-new cylinder head is fitted to this "PD" engine, to specifically accomodate its "Pumpe Düse" Unit Injectors.

There are three different 1.9TDi

I think her Polo is called 1.9TDi Highline or something. I think the 96kW refers to the Sportline.

You're right. The 74kW is the normal Highline whereas the 96kW is the Sportline. The 96kW's "TDi" is normally in red, AFAIK.

Flip...I hate these cars simply coz they got like half of my killerwatts and more than 50% of my torque...why do these flippen cars have so much lekker torque!

Adam what happend to the Mito ?

Let us know how it drives, almost went to test drive one of these, went for a 2nd hand audi instead.

As per the Info above the later 2008/07 High line Models where available in both 74kw and 96kw
With the Sport line being dropped 2008/03

did they have the fab leather/suede seats? or those rather poor cloth seats? I test drove a 1.6tdi with the upgraded seats at the launch, they were awesome. the standard cloth ones didnt seem very supportive. dont know if the upgraded seats are an option yet??? enjoyed the rest of the car though. I have the 96kw Polo and I wasnt disappointed with the 1.6 tdi's performance. seems a cracking little car.
those mags in your pic came on the 3dr sportline i think, well at least i think they were an option, so maybe they have a few spare somewhere.
I reckon you should crack 850km min out of a tank....got 900km out of mine..so it shouldnt be too hard to do.

Because they are diesels?

Hey dude, im also getting mine in 2 or 3 months. It was a really hard decision to make! When I was considering the price, I thought of taking a look at the other cars in the same range. Honda was crap. Toyota was crap. Chevvies are crap and the new Opel Corsa is just butt-ugly. Except the OPC but that's a bit overboard. Then I looked at the new TDI Polo again and my mind was made up. The new polos are so beautiful and its an awesome, stylish and comfortable car. I think it's worth the price and VW always makes awesome cars.

Please let me know how she drives! I'd really, really want to know!

Enjoy it!

On the local front, the diesel's the pick of the bunch I reckon. Congrats.

the car is in stock but not at that particular lindsay saker dealer ... so there was a delay in getting it to that specific dealership

Whatever the case my be, I hope the car won't disappoint you.

no probs mate ... why 2-3 months? ... the TDI's are readily available ... only thing i can think of is the fact that most of them have all the extras ... what colour you getting?
