Get your exchanges fixed telkom

Fireprufe, just as a question have you tried using another ISP prepaid account?

I used to get constant dropping on my line when my account and line was with Web Africa. The thing was I started bying prepaid gigs from Afrihost and for some reason it actually did not drop as often.

I then moved my line back to Telkom recently and have an account with afrihost and now I hardly have any dropped lines.

Is there maybe a correlation between when you switched your line to Web Africa and your line starting to drop?

I don't believe that!? Unless Stellenbosch's Telkom Direct store is better than the rest, because they actually logged faults for me.

If you simply want to log a fault, you can always do it online...

Nope, just last week Stellenbosch pointed me to the telephone to log a fault... I think she was in a bad mood though. Anyway, I threw a fit and the manager guy logged it for me and said 'only [his] PC can connect to fault system'. :wtf:

Anyway, tech came the same day and told me that the connections in the complex were rusted and that I should tell the Body Corporate to fix them. I threw another fit and said that was BS cause its Telkom's equipment, then he said he was going to the depot to get a board or something - and never came back and I got an SMS saying "FAULT RESOLVED". I promptly sprayed the connections board with rust stuff and that to solved my issue.

I'm 100% sure it's not WA, because I was with them for three months before all this started. And it works perfectly if I log into it at my friend's house. I've basically narrowed it down to either my router (which I don't believe) or the exchange. It seems more than likely to be the exchange since it gets worse at peak usage times. I['m just going to try and get Telkom to come figure out what this is.

Web africa are currently having connection problems seascom sat 3 is down maybe that's why give it a few days also do a trace route.

No I know of those problems, but this has been happening for almost a month now, so I don't think it's that. It's the DSL line itself that desyncs. The DSL light on my router goes off first when it happens and then it says link down. Also, what is a trace route?
