Hi all

I am wanting to take out a Vodacom contract when I come back to SA for phone/ data purposes. I have no credit reference in SA as I haven't lived there for a while, nor will I have a job (will be going to University) - my parents will be paying my way from AU. Is it possible to take out a contract if I can prove that I have a stable income? Or does it have to be from an employer in SA?

I probably won't be able to take it out in my name until I'm 18 (still a year or so away), is it possible to take it out in my parents' name even though they don't live/ aren't there? Providing they can fax documents etc.?

If someone knows how the process works, can you please let me know. My only other option would be to ask a family member in SA to do it in their name, although that'd be a last resort.

Thanks

As far as I know if you pay the contract up front they can allow you to use their network on contact, If not mistaken n you need to pay vodacom R20 grand up front......

As far as I know they wont supply you a contract without being a valid Residence of SOUTH AFRICA, being employed, and have 3 months bank statement...

If you parents are Guarantors, sure but do they stay in South Africa..
Nope......

Thanks. Damn, well I guess those terms make sense though. I'll just have to live with prepaid or ask another family member to take it out for me.

To take out a contract, you need a green ID book, 3 months bank statements, proof of earnings and FICA documents.

I think if you've got a gold/platinum card you don't have to provide all that info, I'm not really sure. That might be one way around it though.
