If you get a cat, maybe visit somewhere like kitty haven in JHB, once you get one, it will change your life, they are amazing little creatures.

That depends on how fat you want it to be when you want to eat it.
The cost of the cooking ingredients needs to be added to the final cost too.

On a serious note though.
Not too much about R150+ a month for some cat food, R150+ for a bed.
R50 for toys.

I don't know if you realize this, but cats & dogs, etc were there long before vets & scientists thought up these brilliant schemes to keep your cat alive.

But they weren't here before humans....

Humans have artificially created dogs (and to a lesser extent, cats) to be good pets, and in the process we have removed their hunting and survival instincts. Dogs are therefore dependent on humans for survival, and we shouldn't forget this obligation. Cats, on the other hand, are far closer to their wild cousins, and therefore don't need as much human intervention to survive. We have, however, largely removed the process of natural selection from domestic animals, so I feel we are obligated to intervene (as much as possible) when they are sick.
