I recently moved to Johannesburg and the first thing I made sure of was to call Telkom to get a telephone line and ADSL. They told me it will take about two weeks and then they can only install the line itself. Only after it was installed will I be able to apply for ADSL. I thought that was fine since then I can just do a self install.
A couple of weeks passed and I got an sms saying that Telkom would be installing my line on the 20th of June. I thought it rather strange that they would come on a Sunday so I phoned them to make sure. Unfortunately it was a mistake and they will only be coming on the 20th of July since the techies are on strike. The horror. I've read about this so I wasn't too surprised.
However this is taking a long time and I don't want to struggle getting ADSL after the line is installed. Is it still possible to do a self install after they installed the telephone line? Or even better, is it possible to convince them to do the telephone line and adsl installation at the same time?
