Hi all,

I moved from a house to a townhouse complex. I requested that Telkom move my DSL line. The Telkom engineer arrived and said that the line is "burnt" and since it is on private property he cannot fix it. He also felt that I should contact an electrician to verify that there is no issue with the line.

I then paid an electrician to come out to my property and asked that he check the line and said that there is now way that he can check the line since telephone lines dont have an electrical charge and that Telkom need to fix it.

I went back to Telkom and asked that the Engineer fix it but they still say they are not allowed to fix the physical line because of the whole private property thing.

Now I only have the crappy Vodacom 3g connection and its not the best for playing online games.

Has anyone else faced this issue? If so how was it resolved?

Thanks

Hi

I just had my dsl line installed in a complex, there were no lines from the manhole in the complex street to my house. they installed the cable from the manhole to my house.

i had a look in the manhole and the cables are all telkom branded, so i think the are pulling the wool over.

Speak to the body corporate to ask them what agreement was made with Telkom services .
One estate close to George - did not want Telkom to provide services so they provide their own voice & data via wireless links.
Telkom provide services to a point

thanks guys, i will see if i can figure out where the cables go. my neighbor has a normal telephone line which is all that is required for DSL to be enabled so it should be possible.
