Hi, I am finally getting fibre on Friday (Vumatel in Cape Town). I never thought about which ISP to use and just wanted to use CrystalWeb (they were helpful with my ADSL). However, after looking at the various options ( https://vuma.venturanext.se/Service...K2xiGEPkfp96KKDLTxVoTUqYJgwmkoMN8wxeLKuqso%3d ), I see that some ISPs are offering free installation and modem (Mweb, Webafrica, etc.). So here are my questions:

  1. Does anyone use CrystalWeb for fibre? Any issues?
  2. Seeing that Webafrica is Crystalweb's mother company (or something to that extent), why would I choose CrystalWeb over Webafrica?
  3. Any other suggestions?

I am looking for at least a 20'20 uncapped (or nearly uncapped, >200GB) line.

The only comment I can make and if you browsed through the forums you probably saw it already. Webafica support and service is very bad, I am experiencing at the moment to get Fibre at my place via them.

Yes, this is making me a bit worried.

Personally I would go with Cool Ideas as their pricing is good, Uncapped, No softcap, Free Activation, Free Router and Month 2 Month. Over all I have been very happy with my 50/50 from them. :)

Have Cool Ideas on Fibrehoods. Their service is amazing on Vumatel from my experience when using my friends!

Cool Ideas with VUMA since April, brilliant. Crystal Web is not bad though, from what I have seen. They had some problems earlier, but this has been sorted. Now they are stable again.

I'm on crystal web 100/100 on vumatel and loving it, especially at their intro price

Thank you, everyone, for your replies. I have signed up with Cool Ideas - let's see how they are.

Ok, all sorted. Vumatel came and connected me. Then Cool Ideas came and dropped the new router. Currently I am getting 5Mb/s up and 8 Mb/s down - let's see what it does over the course of the weekend. I still have ADSL as a backup.

what line did you take, it seems to low for VUMA with Cool Ideas on top

That's not right, are you running tests via wireless and cable?

Pretty much the same for both. Local ping is around 20ms, international (Netherlands) is 190ms.

I opted for the 20/20 for now. Yes, it seems a bit slow for that - this was all tested using speedtest.net. When I connected using my PS4, the download was estimated at 17 Mb/s, upload around 3 Mb/s.
