Hi everyone

Next week Thursday I'm getting an upgrade to get HD PVR. I want to keep my older SD decoder for the room, for extraview.

What is the quickest/easiest way to set up my new HD decoder, with the new smart card, and then link the the old decoder, to the new HD PVR to have Xtraview?

Can this only be done over the phone, or by going into a multichoice office, or is there a simpler way?

Once its all installed you'll have to call the call centre, they link them & an on screen code is generated which you need to give them, so no online option

On the phone it took me 70 minutes to get connected... at R2,50 per minute I might as well driven to their offices. Their customer service is pathetic!

Going to MC may be unavoidable. Depending on the age of your SD decoder, its smartcard may need to be swapped out to work with Xtraview.

What model is the SD?

You need to sort out your wiring; Basically you are going to need a Dual LNB, one wire going to the SD, one going to the HD, then you need to add a heartbeat cable between the SD and HD. Once this is done, you can split your LNB cable behind the HD in order to give you the ability to record, etc.

Once this is done you need to contact MC and advise them of the setup changes, they will then telephonically assist you to activate the Xtraview and HD decoder. I was lucky it only took me about 15 minutes on the phone, but if they are busy it will take longer, and it is VERY frustrating if you have to hold without knowing how long it will take to get to the front of the queue.

Oh MultiChoice. Oh ! I lost R320,00 airtym phonin multichoice. Ths is reali pathetic.

Get a guy to come install it and let him make the calls and worry about it.

I was in the same boat, was going to do it myself and just decided to pay to get it done. So worth it.
