Getting higher speeds on 1mbps uncapped

Hey All.

So as most of you know, Telkom's upgrades rolled around recently. I went from 1mbps to 2mbps, and have verified this using their online checker app.

However, I was still on a 1mbps uncapped package from MWEB - convincing the account holder to fork over the extra dosh is proving a bit harder than expected

So anyway - I recently noticed my downloads had improved. From pulling a max of about 110 KB/s, I have gone to pulling 170 KB/s. WITHOUT UPGRADING MY MWEB ACCOUNT.

This was also done while my Bro was playing Team Fortress 2 on the same line.

So finally: My question: Why is this happening? and what kind of improvement Can I get if I pony up and upgrade my MWEB Account?

Yes, they probably upgraded your account automatically.

I was thinking the Same thing, however the last invoice that came through showed they were still billing me for the 1mbps uncapped @ R199. On their account management portal it still shows im using the DO UC 1024 package.

odd. maybe MWEB Guy can clarify if they do Automatic Upgrades if he is around.

u will get more speed even if u have a 1mbps data on 2mbps line

i also have 1mbps data on a 2mbps line from mweb

but i dont get that max with downloads
maby but it avg still around 120kb/s and randmoly jumps to 180-200 for a few sec then back again

edit:
i dont think they can auto upgrade you,with out u knowing,that u will pay more...

the upgrade your line for free (with out u knowing)
but uhave to call them to upgrade you data

Some of us are experiencing faster speeds on the 1Mb accounts than normal.
Once this is fixed/back to normal, your speeds should stabilise at around 120-125KB/s. (for a 1Mb account on a >1Mbps line).

Had a problem with finding a decent package for my new 6 meg earlier but now I've found out that I download at 580-600 Kbps after hours on my 4 Mbps uncapped Afrihost FTW
