So, getting my Motorola RAZR today.. Quite and upgrade from my current phone... I currently have a Sony Satio - which lasted quite some time and did what it needed to. But Symbian is a kak OS.

Read some awesome reviews on the RAZR and it seems to be rated up there with the SGS II. It is shipped with Gingerbread, but will be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich first quarter this year.

Anyone got any opinions on the RAZR?

Have just checked out the Android apps thread and I must admit, I can't freaking wait!! :)

Congratulations on getting your new phone, I'm sure you will enjoy it immensely. Any Android phone is fun to have especially if you Root your phone, then then it's like a whole new world opening up to you.

I have the S2 but the Razr seems like a great phone.!

Sent from a galaxy far, far away...

Almost but not really

Jailbreak is like getting Admin password to a windows PC, you can go delete and add files but you can not edit/change the preloaded binary files.
Root is well getting the root password of a Linux PC, you can do above but also have access to the code so you can in essence change anything you dont like, or download other developers work, that did it for you.

Thanks eshwar.

Elimentals, okay I understand. But surely if you do it incorrectly you will brick it?

Well only time you can brick it is when you change/flash the "bootloader" or recovery part.

If you stuff up the OS you can always go back to the recovery and install another "OS"

So no you can not brick it when you root. Worse case is you will have to flash the original "OS" back on again.

To completely brick the phone takes some doing. You have to think of modern smartphones almost like you do of computers, in the sense that even if you stuff up Windows (or Linux) completely you can likely still boot it somehow & set everything up afresh. That being said, from what I know the Razr is more difficult to develop for, and more locked down than a number of other 'Droids.

You'll likely want to head here and start reading. A lot.

Razr way to big IMO I prefer smaller phones but other than that seems a brilliant phone,

I go into my menu, select wireless & networks and try to enable (power on) my bluetooth.

After a couple of seconds of "Turning on..." nothing happens. :(

Aaah, so after that do you get a bluetooth icon in the status bar or does it go back to turn on ?
