Getting my blog indexed by Google

Subject says it all. For some reason this just doesn't happen. It's been months now. I've submitted a sitemap too, but it just doesn't show up. How long is this supposed to take?

Any gotchas they're not telling me about?

It's set to:

"I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers"

Have you submitted your URL to google before?

You say it has been "months", that's very strange, I usually get a index list in about 2.5 weeks at most.

Have you tried a ping service for your blog yet? Search for Blog Pinger in google. Just add a url to the list you want to ping to and the URL gets sent to a few Blog directories, might help google catch on to it?

Whether you like McAfee or not, search engines like Google and Yahoo and MSN are very likely to incoporate this “trust” factor into their operations, if they haven’t already done that. We know Google doesn’t like .info as much as .com, and this new “evidence” appears to confirm whatever rationale Google might give for that.

I did a google search for blxm.info and found a bunch of references on myadsl, so I think google is not trusting you either

Yes, that's the first thing I did. I do see in my logs that Google has crawled a few times, but nothing shows up in the search engine.

Interesting. I have been thinking of changing the domain name for a while, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

The only other thing I can think of (probably makes it worse, given your quote), is that I have domain protection from the registrar, so that my personal details don't show.

Try finding some contact details of google search in particular. I know adwords etc. have great support in general, so does gmail. Maybe you can just ask them to check it out for you?
